Has anyone ever been on a project where everyone (staff to partner) is unhappy? How do you cope? Our go live just got pushed back because we can't meet client deadlines to give ya context...

Yes. It was brutal we celebrated when it was over... They recently called for a contract amendment and we all just want the partner to say no.

And it's Monday to Friday travel + no one wants to do anything at night because everyone is over this project. I feel like I need to go to church during the week to cope.

Damn. Don't loose hope. Try to stay positive. I know it is hard to do that but in times like these, all we can do is not go down the path of negativity. I always say this to myself - if I start thinking negatively, I would never be able to wake up at 3 am on Monday mornings and leave my family for the client site halfway across the states. Consulting life is tough but these are the kind of experiences which will help you in the long term. 20 years from now, as a Senior Partner, you will talk to your team about this project and how you managed to deliver it to the client

EY 2 - no it isn't. Thanks EY 3 for the advice! It's been a tough few weeks and it's hard sometimes to not let work affect your general mood.

Yeah should be winding down by now. Just perfect for an army of people to hit the bench at the same time.

I'm 7 months in and doing a really bad job at my current project because I hate consulting and the job itself makes me really miserable. I feel really helpless and don't know what to do because the worse I do the worse opportunities I'll get at this firm later on and then I won't be able to leave. I've been interviewing with some other companies but no offers so far, afraid I won't get any because I'm leaving so soon. Truly feel so helpless and lost, I really want out.

Coming from a big 4 - Can we mention the names of the clients we have worked with over the years when interviewing? I am at a boutique agency now working with some people who came from Accenture and some other consulting companies and I noticed that they will reference their clients by brand name. If it is a past project and you do not give any client sensitive information is it OK to share the names of the brands that you've worked with in your previous role? What's standard?

Imagine your firm region leader bowing out on you right during the middle of a huge client proposal that your team has been working on for months and then citing afterward there is “more to life than winning client work” and that it’s OK to sit out some of the biggest client proposals due to mental health…

Exploring a potential data analytics role at MBB that isn’t part of their general consulting track… it seems more like an internal service that partners with consulting teams and occasionally is client facing. I’m interested in pursuing an MBA in the near-ish future and I’m curious how much this would help my application versus staying in my current role as a B4 consultant?

You’re given a brief for an OOO campaign. Could be cool. How many days are you given before you have to show concepts to the ECD? And to the client? Curious about time expectations at different places.

Slalom 🐠 (or other non-traveling consulting shops) - can you expense the commute to the client if the client’s office is farther away from your house then the slalom office? Any policy around this?

A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻‍♂️

Potential agency boomerang having a hard time making a decision to stay brand-side or go back. Need some advice! Do I leave the brand, being "the client," fun work, great WLB, as well as the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced and meh pay? Do I go back to agency lead a new team with significant responsibilities, forget about WLB, sell my soul alongside smart people, get great pay and benefits? PS: I'm a mom and brand-side for 5 years. What do I need to know!? Thank you!

Re-watching the Javy Baez walkoff last night against the Reds and absolutely loved the fire/smack talking in a series where there’s historical bad blood between the two. Which leads me to wonder, is there any sort of sense of rivalry at all between competitor firms? We joke about it through avenues like social media but has anyone actually first-hand experienced a competitive/hateful side to work that they didn’t know existed? (Like when a client is poached or business won from a competitor).

Started at a new firm 3 months ago, first two months was swamped staffed on a huge deal, (my only file) did my hours everything good. July: deal was supposed to close did not due to regulatory stuff but my work stream is done and over and am now really really slow, asked for work to people I had worked with to help them close - nothing, staffed on a new deal , client on vacation so everything is on stand by. I’m freaking out don’t know how to reach to partners/senior associates (ctd in comments)

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members.
