I was on sertraline for a year and reacted really badly to it. It took six weeks for my body to get past the initial side effects (nausea, even worse anxiety, fatigue, etc). After this, it worked by flattening my emotions so while my symptoms of anxiety and depression were diminished, it was also really hard for me to be able to engage in intellectual work or think creatively. I eventually got off it for good when I had two suicide attempts and realised this was tied to its effects on me. I was also in therapy throughout this process.
Thanks! I’ve been doing much better since then and took time off to focus on intense therapy. I hope your experience will be much better than mine was
I started it about 2 months ago after trying lexapro and Wellbutrin without success. Side effects included diarrhea and headaches (just for 1 week when I started at 25mg and another when I bumped up to 50mg), and reduced sex drive. While the reduced sex drive obviously isn’t ideal, my anxiety and depression has gone from moderate/severe to mild/almost none.
Thank you!
I’ve been on 50 mg Zoloft a day for a year and it works very well for me. Went up to 100 and felt loopy.
