Yes - I had been working as a senior at a client for nearly two years and was coming up on promotion for Manager. I ended up getting in a tiff with my manager at the time - he was paranoid and thought I was trying to undermine him. The manager set up a meeting with me, him, the director and partner to put me in line. I ended up feeling super attacked and couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Oh, and he set up the meeting in a giant clear conference room on the client’s trading floor. So after the meeting, I had to make a walk-of-shame with red puffy eyes through a sea of trader-bros and our main client stakeholders.
Yep about 15 years ago
I had a client cry in front of me.. was very awkward..
Me too SA1
Managed to keep it together in front of client, but broke down after the fact when debriefing with my MD - that was almost worse though
Yep! I cried in front of a client (a male director) who had previously cried in front of me. Neither time ended up being a big deal. People are stretched thin, emotions are running hot- it happens. Excuse yourself if it’s going to turn into sobbing, but otherwise just acknowledge it (“Sorry for the tears - I’m really frustrated” Or even something less apologetic) and power through.
What types of circumstances have come up that resulted in crying?
Yes. During a full on panic attack.
