I have a deviated septum and swollen turbinates … to top it I also need a cosmetic rhinoplasty… anyone know who / which doc the big actresses go to?
My wife did, it worked..took a couple weeks of nasal packing and shit. But she’s been good with it…i was advised to get one 6 yrs ago, but declined after seeing hers
Recovery was not fun . Painful
After a childhood of my parents claiming I had allergies I had a 3 region allergy panel done and only reacted to 5 or 6 things mildly.
A visit to the ENT revealed a significantly deviated septum. Scheduled the Septoplasty for after the college term ended. Post op recovery was two weeks with both nostrils packed, was weird but not painful.
I don’t think I had an ideal outcome because I think mine reverted slightly and I can still only blow my nose effectively on one side. However, pre surgery I could not blow my nose at all and had to breathe through my mouth for anything over a brisk walking pace.
The first full breath I took through my nose after my follow up appointment was amazing. I highly recommend you go for it if you have any of the problems I did.
I did when I was in my early 20s. I had 2-3 sinus infections a year before I got it done and have not had a single one in the last 20 years. I don’t remember recovery being bad at all. Though I will never forget them taking the packing out. That is a sensation I hope one only has to experience once in their life.
Agree, and being shocked at how far into my head those things were stuffed.
Same
Had 100% blockage in 1 nostril due to a broken nose/deviated septum injury. Got the repair done and stayed 1 night in the hospital. I’d say that one night was terrible and then when they removed the packing from my nose, it was probably the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced (have as 3 other surgeries). Other than that, it was pretty smooth sailing from there and like someone mentioned, about a 2 week recovery. I think I was out of the office/down for a solid M-F but was feeling much better by Saturday and returned to work the following week.
Had it, recovery was pretty chill.Honesty don’t know if I notice a substantial difference
So I had one and instead of doing a septoplasty mine needed a full rhinoplasty because of where my deviation was. I also got my turbinates reduced and an entire nostril supported via cartilage because it had collapsed.
I’m not gonna lie, I was miserable for a few days there but one nostril that never works does now so I can’t complain. The cast came off at a week and I was super gentle on my nose for months. It’s still super sensitive (5 months out) but functional
I have to do the exact same 3 procedures. How long was it until you could get back to work/your regular life?
Deviated septum from breaking my nose a couple times. Got the surgery, all was amazing for about 2 weeks after the packing came out… then it reverted back to the way it was, doc said it happens about 3% of the time. He said extra splinting for a longer period post recovery would lessen that chance, I’d ask your doc about that option.
Recovery wasn’t bad, 3-5 days of pain, T3s numb it. Packing out after 2 weeks
I had my deviated septum fixed along with a turbinate reduction about 13 years ago. Unfortunately the septum re-deviated, and the result was terrible snoring,/sleep issues. I tried it again 7 years ago, when they did septum, trimmed my uvula, and took out my tonsils.
Snoring is mostly resolved and sleep is better; I can breathe through my nose in a way that I couldn't from the 90s until surgery. The down side is that whatever was done screwed with my sinuses. Now water gets stuck in my sinuses whenever I swim, and it is common for me to develop sinus infections as a result.
Other thing worth pointing out is that I was given a bottle of 100 oxycodone pills (not sure what strength) when I got out of the hospital. I was told to take two pills every four hours as needed. I'll never, ever forget what happened the second day. Pain was returning after 3 hours, so at the 4 hour mark I took my two pills. About an hour later, I remember sitting, feeling almost out of my body, and thinking, "boy, it's been a while since I breathed. I should probably do that."
It scared me, but the pain was brutal. I stayed on the pills for seven days, dropping to 2 every 6 hours instead of every 4. On the eighth day, I woke up without pain so didn't take anything. The entire day was miserable - clear signs of withdrawal, which was terrifying. If I never need to take another opioid pain pill in my life, I'll be happy.
Cleaning my ears w peroxide has drastically reduced number of sinus infections
I did sinoplasty as part of a rhinoplasty and had three turbinates reduced. One week with all the packing inside and then a week post op - it’s removed. Have to be careful for a few weeks post op but I think that was mainly for rhinoplasty.
I love had it done twice it was one of multiple issues due to injuries but short answer is yea totally worth it. I could breathe better after but my septum was more crushed than sideways so wasn’t super noticeable. For reference I had sinoplasty done then balloon sinoplasty, turbinate reduction, septum fixed and then has them bore out a bit. First surgery completely under and the second in office (balloon sinoplasty).
