Yes! And I found it myself! The majority of bags are recovered/located w/in 24h, but mine took 4 days, 12 different customer support conversations - and nothing. They had no clue where it was. On the fourth day I went to the airport and asked to see the ‘lost luggage’ room. (Do this! You will have to push to make it happen. I threatened to make a scene after asking politely numerous times and getting refused.) Net of the story is: I walked into the lost luggage room, picked a random aisle, and found it in less than 5 mins. You can do it too 💪
How quickly it is found depends on the airline as some like Delta use RFID for bag tracking, while some others are still very manual
Yup. For personal travel (or business, depending on how you book) in addition to what was mentioned above I would also look to see if the credit card you booked with has bag delay protections—many credit cards cards will reimburse a certain amount in toiletries, etc.
Gosh it sounds like such a headache guys! I’m sorry you had to go through this. But I wonder if there are people that never recovered their bags and just had to swallow that loss? My main scare is losing my clothes! It’s hard to find what I like and I only carry my best clothes with me so just have anxiety about never seeing the contents again.
Don’t ever check a bag, then. Most of us who travel every week never do.
Yes - once flying chicago to Arkansas after curb side checking (never do this!!!). I talked to the airline at the airport (probably went to the ticket desk?). Somehow it got left behind. They put it on the next flight and I think I picked it up at the airport same day (distance was not too far).
Also lost bag once on a flight to Barcelona. First flight was delayed after we boarded and we would have missed our connection to Spain so we got on another flight to make our connection. We knew there was a risk of our luggage not being there when we landed so we bought clothes at the airport (bc we were landing on a holiday and were worried that all the shops would be closed!). Two of our three suitcases were there when we landed in Barcelona and the third (mine) was nowhere to be found. I assumed it was gone forever but It got delivered to our hotel unexpectedly on the third day of our week long trip. This one was a nightmare bc we had traveled on two different airlines and each one said the other was responsible. So I left our hotel address with both. I honestly don’t know which one found it bc one of the hotel bellmen brought it up to our room. I learned on that trip that I shouldn’t take my possessions so seriously and that you can pretty much but everything you need when you get to your destination. I am much more at ease when I travel now actually!
