A recruiter once told me that someday I’d be begging him for the 1/3 of my rate that he was offering me for a gig.
That sounds like a desperate recruiter who hasn't placed anyone in a while.
In my 2ish years of freelance experience, no, never. But I also just stopped responding to most third-party recruiting agencies.
Not even worth the phone call they’ll inevitably ask you to get on and tell you they have this great opportunity (“with potential for full-time!!”) in Newark for $35/hour.
This exactly happened to me today.
always avoid recruiters unless your incredibly desperate
Don’t go with an outside recruiter! They will pay you less than half of what you should be making in-house! Reach out to the creative resource manager for whatever company and talk to them directly
Hope this helps!
Nope, but i did have one get close to it last year which was a first. The worst ones are like Daniel Marks, who say that you’re totally worth your day rate and then say the best they can do is $400 below.
Yes! But they took 20% for their own commission so it was actually a bit less than my day rate. Was a freelance to full time position in which the hiring agency booked me for 20 days / 1 month
