Planned parenthood is the shit PERIODT

like

First, that is very upsetting that you need an exam that isn’t covered and second, PP is amazing.

like

Never had any issues with planned parenthood. Been to many locations

like

Thank you so much!

I’m a little surprised that your pelvic ultrasound wouldn’t be covered? I’ve had multiple done since being diagnosed with PCOS and they’re all covered to some extent (subject to deductible limits). Also when I get mine done, I don’t go to my OB, I go to a place that specifically does ultrasounds. Usually around $200 until I hit my deductible

like

It would be covered if I met my deductible but my deductible is $5000 and I’ve not had any other medical expenses before

And I’ve got $50 in my current HSA, so obviously not enough to cover that. Just seeing what people’s experience was with PP. Or if anyone has pulled money out of their Roth IRA to pay for medical expenses before? Just looking for general advice because I’ve now got all of this anxiety around my health finances that I’ve never had before (thanks U.S. healthcare/insurance system).

Is PA health insurance really that bad? I have a 5000 deductible as well but I only ever pay $20 out of pocket (the co pay) for in network specialist

Ah okay that makes way more sense.

I was on my parents insurance for the longest time and never had to pay any money for anything, then randomly my IUD placement wasn’t covered and I had it done at planned parenthood. No regrets and would do it again in a heartbeat. It was free

Health insurance is confusing. I always thought you just have a copay and then your copays are going towards your deductible. At least that’s how mine works

There’s difference between copay and coinsurance. Copay is usually a fixed amount (eg 25 to see OB) and coinsurance is % of allowed Amount under your plan. Copay does not count toward deductible but does toward max out of pocket. Coinsurance counts toward both. *based on experience with two b4 plans, both with BCBS.

Hi everyone, this is a question on Health Spending Account. Does the UK have a health spending account like the US, where, similar to a Roth or ISA, the money you put in this account will not be taxed so long as you spend for health reasons. Through my company, we are using Vitality services for our healthcare and we have a Personal Health Fund, but we cannot more cash to it. And to make it more annoying, this money does not roll over to the next year. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I work at a traditional actuarial consulting firm on the heath benefits side and don’t really find the work very interesting. I’m kept by short term promise of a nice promotion, and competitive pay. I’ve recently started thinking about a next move, but am torn about which direction to go in. I’ve pondered a few options: working at a traditional carrier, switching to a different kind of consulting, or non-traditional work. All of my connections are in consulting not insurance, anyone have advice?
