Going Northeast to Southwest I wasn't adjusted down. Not sure about going up.
They EY doesn't change your salary if you transfer to another office. I transferred out NYC with my NY salary which is higher than my current location. Hope it helps.
EY2 did they curb your non promotion year raises? I just got what was essentially a COL adjustment.
I transferred from Phoenix to Chiraq and got about 10-12%. I know it still wasn't the same as my peers there. It doesn't balance out until your next promo. Hope it helps
Chicago's cost of living is quite high. Recommend looking into sales tax on the necessities, housing and transportation cost. Then compare with Nashville. If it's a significant jump, you can present the facts and discuss a jump in pay. Also, some companies that I've worked for in the past paid for moving expenses. Never hurts to ask.
I transferred from a smaller city to Chicago last year. My salary did get bumped, can't remember the exact percent but it's a decent hike (10-12% I think). Of course it could be different from Nashville. Depending what area in Chicago you live in and if you can find a roommate, you can find a good place for 1600-1800 for a 2 bedroom, split that 2 ways.
I just transferred this past November and also to a different industry which it makes me feel insecure since I haven't worked in Insurance before. But overall I don't think so.
