Has anyone ever in-charged as a first year? Do you have any advice? Currently working on 7 DC EBPs. Started in-charging 2 weeks into the first year client.

And yes, people “in-charge” as a first year. Usually not very well, but they do it.

Is there anybody else on your team?

It's been really inconsistent and no one has experience. It was me and two other first years for 2 weeks, no seniors, just managers, now there's 2 seniors added but they don't have experience either so I'm maintaining in charge over the 7 plans I've started while they're hopefully starting the other 7 plans next week. All due by Oct. 15.....none filed yet

Just get the work done

1) Ask your manager(s) if anyone else is available to take one or two of those plans away from you, because seven plans at once is a crapload 2) Ensure that each job has a full PBC list, and that those lists are getting sent out frequently enough (probably 2x per week) 3) Delegate as much work as you can to other people

Go-to introductory line for your first email to a client after you’ve been assigned the matter by a partner? I don’t want to waste time on unnecessary introductions but it also seems weird to start out with a cold “hi x, please see the attached draft letter for your review.” Maybe it’s the pandemic, maybe it’s the profession, but I feel like I don’t know how to interact with people anymore. Is there a best practice?

I really hate my job. Only because it's really difficult and I have low self esteem. My confidence has gotten lower after my meeting with my mentor. He was helping me on a project and a few days later I asked why we are doing it a certain way. He was pissed and said I should ask my questions early on instead of asking two days later. I'm taking really long on this project that shouldn't take this long. I can't stop crying and feel really stupid and slow. I've been in my new career for 8 months.

I’m a sponsored MBA student with option to come back to my firm (Tier 2) at Manager/Project Leader level, but I’ve also received full time offer for MBB at post-MBA level (lower TC by >50K plus need to cover 80K USD for MBA). I may want to stay in consulting long-term, but also open to switching to tech at some point. Is there a strong reason to switch to MBB now, or does it make sense to work in my current firm for 2 years and then make lateral move to MBB at a more senior level?

Question with regards to treatment of Crypto loss: client purchased large amount of alt coins during 2021 and was intended to sell them shortly after the purchase. However his access to sell was restricted and he was not able to sell after continued attempts until 8 days later, the sell transactions went through- during this time the values dropped dramatically and he sustained $100K loss. Practically we’ll report this as ST capital loss, but I’m curious whether it could be viewed as damage?

I just accepted an offer at another big4 and I feel so blessed to be making $130k in LOCL as a 23 year old with less than 1.25 YOE. And I find it funny that I'm gonna be "senior" consultant/associate at my age and YOE. I don't know jack shit, and will completely understand if my clients/senior peers don't give me any respect at all. Thank you covid and the great resignation for this wonderous and hilarious opportunity.

Started at Slalom a few months ago after multiple big 4 stops. Best decision I’ve ever made for my career. If you’re current B4 and want to learn more, let me know. They’re building something truly great though and happy to be a part of it. Edit (some are asking but I’ll reply in comments or DM) 1) tremendous WLB and people centric approach - people centric is not lip service. 2) pay is more than competitive and growth has been great - 3) you make a real impact on clients.

Just had the most bizarre 'not moving forward with you' call with Slalom. Can anyone verify if this is the norm? I got reached out to by a recruiter, about joining their team. A couple friends there were actually about to refer me so they gave me great reviews. After talking with recruiting I'm then told they 1) don't have openings anymore and 2) I seem to lack self-motivation because I said I wasn't learning anything new in my roles?? This just seems weird and kind of rude?
