I quit Deloitte with 9 days notice instead of 14.
I was on the bench for about a week and people were giving me the runaround for new projects. When I finally realized why the F am I trying so hard at this toxic ass place? I was DONE.
My coach…whose calendar it was almost impossible to get on...suddenly had time to call me.
She was rude, accused me of “giving up”, and said she was surprised that I had nothing else lined up as a way to bully me into revealing where I was going. she said I was unprofessional for not giving two weeks notice and I “should let the firm decide” when the end would come.
I stuck to my guns.
Hung up on me at the end of the call LOL.
Rising Star
Normally 2 weeks is standard but I’ve seen more or less depending on situation. Just make sure to finish anything your working on or transition it to someone else on the team and you should be fine.
Background: just got a job offer and want to be out the door on Thursday, 8/18, but I’m worried it’s a bit close.
Theres no law that says you must give two weeks notice. In sales it's basically understood when you give notice, you get walked out the door.
As long as your state has a at-will employment law, 2-week is courtesy. Not a requirement.
Giving notice is risky for you too. They could decide they don’t want you to work it and accept the resignation effective immediately. Either way do what’s best for you. Also I don’t know why employers act like jilted lovers when people put in their notice.
