Has anyone ever reached out to a former client to see if they are hiring? Any repercussions to this?

I honestly have never been at a client where I wanted to work.. There have been people at clients I've worked with that I'd like to work with in the future, but organizations; big no.. That being said; usually the tendency is that it is better to have an advocate of your firm at a client than someone from another firm..

funny

As a proper consultant would answer: "it depends".. I think if you know where (and with whom) within that client you'd like to work, maybe low-key reach out first? If 'normal' application, your idea could work yes

I have had former clients reach out to me multiple times. But I was never available.

What are the benefits of working at a small law firm (about 10 attorneys) as opposed to a midsize firm. What is the difference in the amount of work/ billable hours, benefits (health insurance and PTO), opening doors for future career opportunities, etc. I have an interview at a small law firm, which is not what I ideally wanted, but I am considering it because of the COVID uncertainties. I appreciate any kind of guidance.

Just got laid off due to COVID cuts, I have a background in typical brand strategy/project support/market strategy consulting work, so not a ton of professional experience but was described as a rockstar by supervisors/mentors. What can I do during this down time to stay busy? Looking at classes in PM. Happy to volunteer consulting work as well. Just want to keep the brain active - would rather work for free/cheap in the same realm than not

Mentally exhausted in this career. Don’t always mind the hours but don’t find it fulfilling. I think tech is more interesting and operational. Offered an analyst role at 140k base/bonus (not including equity but not public so not factoring that in). It’s not my ideal company because it doesn’t seem like growth is exponential but people seem nice and role seems better than consulting - gotta start somewhere? Only done a few interviews so far though. Is it better to wait? Have <2 YOE.

are there any parts of MBB (client facing, core consulting roles) with good, or at least not bad, work life balance? My only impression is that overall it's pretty bad...but just curious.
