Has anyone ever received an offer of employment from another company while on Maternity Leave? If so, how did you handle the situation?

It was years ago but I simply emailed my employer that I would not be returning. I had a good working relationship with my supervisor so I did say I got an offer that was better for me and my growing family’s needs that I couldn’t pass up. They opted to mail the few belongings I had on my desk like family pictures etc. instead of me going into the office to pick them up....

Thank you!!

Check your Employee Handbook - you may need to return to work for a certain period of time in order to get the benefits coverage from when you were on leave.

Thank you! I definitely plan on looking more into it :)

Disclaimer: this is just an experience I was a witness to.
I lived with my sister after her third because it was difficult for her to juggle everything. She received an offer while on mat leave and told her employer she was not returning. She offered to log on a few hours each day for knowledge transfer which helped.

This helps! thank you so much!

Just resigned when I was supposed to return

Did AFS come after you for back paying any of you FMLA or leave? Did you give two weeks or make it an immediate resignation?

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren
