Has anyone ever self-selected to roll off of a project during a critical time? How did it go?

I did it. Turned out great. I didn't hate myself everyday any more

like

Yup, best decision I ever made. And no that is not the same as resigning.

like

Lol doing that now!!

like

That would be resigning, so no

I know someone (Senior Manager) who did because she had a nervous breakdown from the stress. She left a couple of years later. I think it is possible if there is a legitimate health issue.

like

Those who did it - how? Did you find a new engagement? How much "notice" did you give? How mad was your team?

like

aka self-selected out of the firm

like

"This project is no longer aligning with my career goals, I would like to roll off at a natural breaking point"...take ownership of your career. GL 🤗

like

Man if Deloitte has made it as easy to roll off as A1 is inferring, they may be on to something

like

@KPMG1 - I don't think it's very easy at Deloitte. On one particularly huge onerous project that is (in)famous within the firm I know 2 people who have burned bridges to get off.

like

Yeah it went poorly for me and I burned bridges with my manager and SM for sure. But I hated working for them so it was worth it.
Did not affect me with other projects, still ended up with a 2 rating that year

like

LOL nervous breakdown, great excuse go for it

like

Only if you have a really strong network and skills that are in demand (not general strategy).

like

Yes, I did. Suffocating 10 people in a conference room for a project that wasn't going to get me promoted and not in my industry.

like

So, kind of funny that this came up bc I posted about this in the Deloitte bowl today

like

All the good vibes for you D3 🤗🌈✨🐶💜

like

Ugh hate that you have to go through that. It'll get better!! I hope you have something outside of work that helps you relax and be happy

like

Aww, thanks so much for the positivity, A2! Thankfully, I do, but the disrespect is too much for me to deal with on a daily basis.

like

Totally get that!

like

My guess is it probably went very very poorly. BCG1 level poorly!

Hi everyone! I’m an EA for a Property Management company, I wanted to get your opinion on a situation. We have an office manager, who is in charge of greeting clients and anybody who walks through the doors, returning of keys, etc., our office manager wants to work a hybrid schedule and we are not opposed to it as long as we can ensure client satisfaction and that the office is orderly. Has anybody been able to make this work?

Looking to leave but trying to conceive ( 1 year now and having fertility issue). I am sticking around cause the flexibility is great with me need to see RE and get blood draw. But also concerned I'm just going to end up not leaving if I never get pregnant :( Upcoming year will be a new client for me and I know it'll bring stress. However a new role in industry might not be as easy either and I'll need to prove myself, where as currently I'm already regarded as a high performer and gained trust.

I’m a Senior Project Manager at an engineering consulting firm - I don’t have my PE as of yet and my compensation is $100k + bonus. Just a bit of background, at my firm a Senior PM is someone with 8+ years exp. I have 10 years experience and on track to making Principal in a couple of months. I seriously think I’m on the low end of the salary range as a Senior PM. What’s a typical Senior PM or Principal compensation in your firm?
