Margin question. If I buy on margin and stock goes up, then if I sell only enough to cover the margin and just keep the extra stocks, do I have any tax on that sale if I did LIFO?
Understand if it goes down and I do the same thing I loose shares (assuming I had a base of shares to begin with)

I’m really thinking about the pros/cons of compensation structure and career growth as part of my search. How do 🐠 who’ve gone on to FAANG think about the potential for growth in role/promo (since not everyone will be Sundar) and the potential for growth in equity value? How have you thought about trade offs and opportunity costs?

At what point do you begin to feel numb (if ever) when you’re done trial and prepping for another trial in a span of 3 months, while mains full caseload of other active litigation cases? Should I be worried that I’m going from engaged and stress to numb and slightly indifferent? Or is this what it feels like to power through? I can’t gauge it anymore? And can’t impose judgment one way or another either.

Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities

I am working in audit for 6 years now and felt stuck recently. Audit feels like the most taken for granted service line with low salary and bad WLB. Thinking of shifting to advisory, but not sure what’s strand. Any advice? My main consideration is compensation (including bonus) and exit options.

How much am I handicapping myself leaving my firm before being promoted and working a year as a senior? I’m going from staff to staff in industry getting like a 17% raise with performance based bonus up to 10%. I’m sure that raise is much lower than it would’ve been had I gotten another year of exp but I’m leaving mostly bc I’m so miserable in public. Will this decision really impact my career/salary growth all that much in the years to come?

This might have been already asked so apologies in advance, but has anyone gone back to public/advisory from industry? I know there are a lot of boomerangs out there but I mean more specifically advisory or due diligence? Currently in Assurance and want to experience private industry as either a Senior Accountant or SEC reporting role but don’t want to shut myself from these other opportunities? Or should I persue advisory first and then private accounting if it doesn’t seem like a good fit?

I want to do FP&A. I’m a senior II and recruiters have told me it’s tough to get into with only Big4 experience. Is this true? Do you suggest doing more of a senior acct role then internal transfer?

Currently a second year associate in audit and looking for - as ridiculous as it sounds - better pay and better hours. I really like audit but I have only been with the firm for a little over a year and i’m burnt out and worse, starting to lose passion for it. I think the long hours are just not for me. Any recommendations of industries/ careers where an audit experience fits well? (As a side note, I’m considering changing practice within the firm, but wanted to look at all options).

Is it possible to land a financial analyst position with only 6 months of experience in audit? I tried to stick it out w/ B4 but I don’t think I can do it anymore.
