She / he meant on their own.
Op- I learned in my 20s (not assuming you’re age, just sharing my experience) that being comfortable by yourself is a very important thing. And traveling solo is a great and wonderful way to get to know yourself
I travel alone often. It’s NBD. Do what you want, when you want. Besides, I’m the funnest person I know. It works. Go enjoy yourself!
On where?
Do you mean “taken a trip on their own”?
If so, yes (London, Las Vegas, San Fran/Bay Area, etc) and it was great as I did what I wanted , when I wanted to, without having to coordinate logistics with anyone else
Traveled by myself for a week and had a great time. It's a good opportunity to get to know yourself better without the influence of other people. I also found that traveling solo made the experience much more internally gratifying since it was something that only I got to experience.
Solo travel can be a blast. I do recommend doing tours or events to get the social interaction, you can meet some pretty awesome people and reduces any loneliness
I recently did a solo trip to Costa Rica and pre-planned some group tours, while also having solo time each day. It was a great trip and amazing experience.
I never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude.
I feel like we travel by ourselves so often for work that for travel should be bearable. I went after graduating on my own and was a lot more nervous but it’s second nature to me now
Absolutely do it. Recommend staying in a hostel if it’s an option where you go - great way to meet people
Thanks everyone!! 1 year into consulting and just need a week with myself. Appreciate the motivation
Yoga retreats are mostly solo travelers and provides structure
Like others have mentioned, I have thoroughly enjoyed my solo trips. However if you think you will feel awkward, consider taking up a travel friendly hobby. Reading (maybe about the place you are visiting), travel sketching or learning the language of the place you are visiting all make for a more immersive travel experience and hopefully ward off any awkwardness you may have being alone (say at restaurants or queues)
Yes, quite a bit because the schedules of friends and SOs don’t always match up. Most recent solo trip was Myanmar and Northern Thailand for 3 weeks in Sept. Met tons of cool folks because I was solo and looking for folks to do tours and treks with. I did 7 mths around the world solo before B-School and it was life changing.
