Just go. Who cares. If you have no debt, no obligations, and 25k, just bounce. You obviously had a good enough degree to get a good job once. You will be able to do it twice. Set a budget, make a methodical plan to check as many things off the bucket list as possible, and sail into the sunrise.
Oh no
Go on a spiritual trip to India! I did it for 8k in 3 months and it changed my life!
Do it OP, I'm with you. I'm three years out of college and thinking of quitting in December, seeing friends and family for a month, and then departing with a one way ticket. It's now or never and I'm sure we will find a job whenever we feel like settling down.
For two consultants, the world will be our oyster 👍🏼 but really, I've still got some time to go and things could change between now and then. It only takes one good project to reinspire you & one bad project to break you but if I'm still determined to quit next year I am 100% down to travel together 😁
area within the firm, toxic team members, and anxiety levels are almost uncontrollable each day. I have 25k in saving accrued, was thinking of taking time to travel to re-discover myself. Although no job in the pipeline as of yet (applied to 1 serious job, should find out by January). I know it's risky but what are your thoughts FB?
This is exactly what I'm debating doing. Talked to a lot of people about it and general consensus is do it while you can. The thing thing about regrets about leaving corporate... Is that you can always rejoin. You can't go back and retake this time in your life for you
D3 - seriously, let's do it.
Why not?
I applied for a Fulbright to teach English and got to travel while passing resume. Highly recommend. What is your dream job? Also, maybe take a week vacation to gather thoughts. Sound like you really need a break from your work environment.
I'm in the same boat! Was doing my calcs on how many Marriott/united pts I can accrue by the time my 2yr mark hits & how much PTO I can cash out. Let's travel together 😄
D3 you've watched the United safety video too much!
I left after almost 3 years as an analyst to join the peace corps. Excellent decision. It's a big resume boost esp if you want to do bschool directly after.
Get an advanced degree, then do 2 years work in another country, then reconsider travel
D2 - That is super interesting! Do you have to be a student to apply? And when did you do this? In between jobs?
No, you do not have to be a student. I did it age 24 when I was in a position quite similar to yours. Deadline is commit up for this year so act fast. Happy to help you with app. You could prob even take a leave of absence and then have a job to come back to or at least the choice of coming back as opposed to no job.
*padding. Got new phone and auto-correct is still on
Same boat. About to leave for 3 weeks and hope to come back refreshed or with a better sense of what I want to do next.
@d5 LOL I didn't even realize but you're right 😔It's ingrained on my subconscious
D4, are you on PTO then?
