I have worked with two people who have done this and have met many others on airplanes doing the same thing. A small dog is key since they’re much easier to transport around and more accepted by hotels. A surprising number of hotels allow pets (many at no extra charge). And of course, your dog needs to be well trained or in a crate at the hotel during the workday. Sure, you’ll be limited when it comes to your after-work flexibility, although I suspect you could work around this quite easily.
I don’t think this would cause a problem for you at all...especially since you stated you’d be doing mostly Amtrak which negates many of the airline concerns listed above.
You do what’s right for you and your pup, OP!
I have never seen someone take their dog on the road w them. As an isolated incident i would go sure.
But in the long run this could cause issues (missing team dinners to walk the dog, having dog in car as the group goes to the airport in same car, etc).
There was a post on here a few months ago about the same topic. I think it almost started ww3
This would be tough unless you board your pup at a local place while you work so the dog doesn’t poop or cause issues at the hotel
Never let your dog out of your sight if you're flying. If the airline won't let them be in the cabin with you, find another way to travel before the pupper has to ride in the hold
