Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?

I’ve done so for an industry position. Requested an extra week, and they accepted - only had to ask

Yes can negotiate vacation. Many places would rather give an extra week instead of extra $

Not specifically in accounting but I have known people that did this.

I know a lot of people who have done this. Doesn’t always work but no shame in asking for it

You have unlimited PTO so what is the point. There will still be the same issues in trying to take the time off in the first place
