Has anyone ever utilized their company’s sabbatical program?
I know there are variations of this thread, but what is Alvarez & Marsal target comp for a Manager in CPI if you hit say ~90% utilization? Is that 140k base + 50% bonus? Or higher?
Poll Question: which consultant would you rather staff or hire and why?
A. Consultant who has worked with the same client for two straight years, above target utilization.
B. Consultant who has worked with 8 different clients over two years, above target utilization.
What does the market look like for M&A consultants in the next two years? I'm talking to a firm that has 90%+ utilization so they have open roles. Changing companies in a time like this appears risky though. What is everyone else seeing?
Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!
I wish admin utilized Tier 1 supports with teachers. Smiles, appreciations and acknowledging ones efforts would do a great deal to boost morale and climate. I just don’t understand what that is so hard to do.
Alvarez & Marsal How does comp work at Alvarez & Marsal? I know bonus is based on utilization / collections, but how does that really work when you're executing against a SOW with a certain amount of hours budgeted. If I'm only budgeted at 70%, how do you increase your utilization to increase your bonus.
What is the minimum utilization criteria followed at SDC?
There are people from my team with utilization in range of 30% to 50% and got promoted to manager 1 and sa2 respectively.
I have almost 75% utilization, so wondering why work so much. Thinking of aiming for 55% utilization this time.
Is it possible or someone on Deloitte Advisory with low utilization to move to a role in Deloitte Consulting or is the utilization part automatically kills all chances?
My current utilization is 105% , and planning to take leave from 12 Dec to 23 Dec i.e will be back to office on 2nd Jan
I am asking this becoz it's my milestone year .
I am Up for promotion
How much will my utilization drop to ? Will it risk my milestone ?
Are others seeing their work slow down? It’s been a pretty dramatic halt for me. I thought maybe it was a me problem, but others in my group admitted they are also slow. I’ve been consistently 110-120% utilized, but I’ve only billed 22 hours this month. I’m in fund formation.
My project goes live Nov 9th but I have accepted a new job. When do I put my two weeks in? I have been with this client for > 1.5 years. My gut says give notice Oct 15th but stay through Go Live week. I don’t want to jeopardize my utilization at my new firm. New firm supports pushing start date but obviously prefers an earlier start date.
Caught a peak of the advisory utilization numbers...could see layoffs at KPMG as well. HUGE amount of 0% on the year with 0% forecast in retain. Also heard parts of RC just got reorganized at the top
Any advice on how to transition from patient care into a WFH position. I really desire to do something different. I’m an outside the box thinker. I problem solving, figuring out things. My thoughts were case manager, utilization review but without any of that experience I’m unsure. Any suggestions?
First year BTS TCI, started in June 2019 and have 65% CS utilization so far. How worried should I be?
Why isn't utilization part of your bonus? I get why it doesn't go towards performance...but if I'm charging 100% for the year that means I making the company a lot of money! Hook it up!!
Why does Deloitte penalize its employees for paid time off? Is it fair that the denominator of our utilization doesn't account for PTO?
Got 37.08% hike from ASE to SE promotion based on techleap. Just wondering if any Manager or HR can clear. Why is it .08% I mean is it calculated based on some parameters or something.
Also what will be my new variable pay percentage at ASE level it was 8.5%
PS - Genuine question.
Just wanted to say that working and studying is no joke. I wish my professors would have warned me then I would have delayed my start date. Just venting....
How many of you are asked to join office in hybrid model from January? Is it mandatory? Can we delay it? Please give your inputs.
Is Deloitte as cut throat a working environment as everyone from KPMG likes to tell each other? Please comment if you have worked for both organizations. TIA

If you could go back and start over would you still choose this path? Or would you choose a different career and/or a different time to have children? I accidentally became a working parent in law so while I love my job and my children I don't think I would have planned it quite like this.

I’m 24 years old, making 120k a year. I have about 65k saved in my. 401k, 7k in my ESPP, and 15k in my personal brokerage, no debt. I keep very little in my checking, only enough to pay bills, rent and enjoy a little. What more can I be doing to maximize my investments and extra cash. I just got a salary increase (120k) hoping to start saving more per paycheck! Any positive advice would be great. Big believer in compounding.

Any non US citizens here could recommend me some student loan refinancing services that work for us?
Looking at refinancing my home and I’m trying to figure out how to best include additional equity in the equation since I’d go to a shorter term, but effectively keep the same payment ($50 more per month). If I roll all of the closing costs into the loan, I show myself coming out ahead immediately due to gaining nearly $500 in additional equity.
Am I missing something in how I should treat that equity? It seems too good to be true to be ahead Day 1.
Beginner here so please excuse the basic question: is it worth setting up an Independent IRA when i am not eligible for a ROTH due to income limits? Or am i better off with a regular brokerage account?
My husband and I have 1 car - around $6K left on a 0% APR loan. I have worked from home the last 2 years while he goes to teach in person, and the lack of freedom is getting to me. We are thinking of getting a 2nd vehicle. Do you have advice/do’s and don’t’s? Vehicles aren’t a great investment, but they are so necessary in our car centric society for mobility.

Hey everyone any good low cost dividend ETFs or good stocks that pay consistent dividends out there? So far I’ve bought SCHD and then I bought Blackstone (BX) as a dividend paying stock. I understand that I could pick from the list of stocks SCHD is comprised of, but I’m restricted in certain individual stock picks. Additionally, I have TQQQ and VOO as my index funds. Any thoughts on allocating more to dividend stocks vs SP500 index funds?
Anyone have suggestions on how to protect minors assets? They have a couple of years left before they turn 18 and would like to help them put their inherited money to good use example: low risk investments, steady cash flow investment/rental property, etc. Anything that may also be used for their education in the future. And possibly tax strategies to decrease tax liability from when they start getting income?

I don’t think that the firm would permit to take multiple sabbaticals. It’s easier to get at manager and below. I think the firm is pretty supportive of ppl who want to take a sabbatical, one of my colleague just got his approved
Even though the firm policy says nothing explicitly against taking more than one?
I guess it makes sense that you might not get PML and SPML approval. But what if it had been 2 years since your last one? 5 years?
No, but have taken a year long sabbatical in between jobs in mid 20s and its best thing you can do for yourself!
@ SM1 Did you have something lined up in between the 2 jobs?
I took 3 months sabbatical with the firm. I believe 4 months was the max. It was the greatest thing I ever did. I used it to study for the cpa exam, but I’ve known others who used it to travel, mission trips, mental health, etc.
Just took a three month LOA. No regrets. Great decision for my mental health
