Easy. I quit.
Understand your situation. It can always be worse. I literally think to myself; I'm young, healthy, make enough to do the things I want to do, and I'm in tech so I have options. I could have been born in a third world country without access to clean water. Count your blessings!
True - but also know that the mind is a fragile thing when pushed to the limit. Understand where your limits are, listen to your body/mind and be prepared to make a change if it gets to that point. The human body has not evolved quickly enough to keep up with the increase in mental stress seen in the last 100 years or so. We’re still relatively primitive, so take care of yourself without pushing too hard
I think about my bills and how cranky I would be without things like food and shelter.. AC..
I think we are catastrophizing. Hopefully you have some savings so if you ever feel really desperate to quit, you can. Working somewhere you hate makes no sense unless you have no other choices of where to work and are penniless without credit! 🌞
Almost every single day. I feel you.
First, everyone’s situation is different. In some cases, it might make sense to quit.
I went through this a few years ago and was ready to quit and move to a cabin in the wilderness. But I talked to people and they said that is not rational, and in my mind I agreed even though I wanted them to say “you only live once do it.”
I didn’t have a good alternative at the time so it didn’t make sense for me to quit. And I thought about all of benefits I get from this profession and lifestyle. So I decided to make a plan to find another opportunity, instead of quitting. At least try.
Now, I’m about to leave my firm for another opportunity and am truly sad to be leaving.
You are not alone. I hear you
Need to be honest with yourself if something else is affecting you, even the weather. I’m super affected by sunlight. When the sun isn’t out for a while, I get depressed and then my mind races with negative thoughts. I find getting back to a routine helps while the weather sucks for a few days.
I understand.
Do Workday instead.
