I’m at BCG and I feel like it has not been a factor provided you do well at the job. Go above and beyond while you are there.

Great to hear as I’m joining there in October

Suffered in what way career growth?

Yeah or ever felt like it was used against you in some capacity. Or even not being around as often between obligations and vacation

Yes. Can't get staffed when there's a pending activation soon. Your chargeability metrics then look bad. Definitely getting out asap if I continue in consulting.

Yes, and it ultimately drove me to leave a firm

Has anybody worked on google? If so what was workload like and how large was the team etc.

Ok please be my thought partner? I (33f) work at an internal learning team now. WLB is amazing. People I work with are amazing. But the work is not intellectually challenging. The problem is I feel like I might be cornering myself in this position. I have a phd in education and right now, I feel like my skills are not utilized enough.
The easy answer might be to shift to consulting in education practice, but I’m not sure what’s holding me back (contd)

I have a 10-month long assignment for a small start up. I’m wondering what the best way is to bill: hourly, project, or retainer? It’s up to me to decide.

No. No it doesn’t.

Excel could be very helpful for control engineers who work with plant producers
Once you gather all the plant info in a spreadsheet you can automatically extract io list, setpoint list alarm list, manuals even the code and hmi screens ;)

Was offered 105k plus 5k signing at Deloitte with 2 years of Oracle cloud experience. Is that fair?

I had a very weird dream that I killed my manager and spent an entire week covering my tracks. Is it time to quit my job? I’m seriously concerned.

Need help from experts here. I have about $3K in traditional IRA that I contributed 5 years ago, post tax. I want to start doing backdoor Roth IRA this year. I understand I can contribute $6K into a traditional IRA and immediately move this to Roth IRA account. But I am confused about that $3K that I currently have in a traditional IRA. Can I leave that $3K alone, open a new traditional IRA account, contribute $6K and move to Roth IRA immediately? Or does that 3K have any implications for me?

Asking on behalf of one of my friend.
He holds 2 offers:
First - High Radius with 12.7 CTC
Second - Tech M with 12.5 CTC and 1 lakh JB.

YOE - 3.8
Experience in QA

Which one he should choose ?

Received an email from a recruiter about a confidential search. I’m pretty sure I know what organization as well as the Director of HR and some other contacts. Disclose that to the recruiter or no?

For those who opened up several very expensive credit cards while on active duty to have them paid under SCRA, what cards did you keep, did you simply downgrade others instead of closing them, and how long did it take the banks to realize that you’re no longer on active duty to start charging you annual fees? I leave AD at the end of Nov, I have the amex platinum (of course), chase sapphire reserve, and amex bonvoy brilliant.

Welcome all my fellow veteran consultant fish...

Trying something here that we do monthly in a local vet group I'm in for some all-around positivity. What has been your biggest accomplishment since leaving the service? Mine is building a house on a beautiful plot of land for me and my partner.

Apologies if this is not the right bowl. I’ve been strongly considering leaving consulting for the military - 24 yo guy here. Any thoughts or concerns from the vets here?

Anyone else feel like after military service you are behind in life? Like civilian peers have advanced into high corporate positions and you’ve just aged and now starting behind?

Who’s firm out their pays 100% base pay while on military leave? I know I asked this question once - but online it says Deloitte offered that in 2016, but now 2018 list shows it does not.
