My nieces flew from Houston to Chicago. They said they felt safe. Everyone was wearing masks during the flight

Despite being vaccinated, I came down with COVID last week. I’m wiped out. Zero energy, high fever, coughing. On Friday partner calls to tell me he wants me to write a letter which I decline due to my condition. He respond it can wait until Monday. It’s Monday and my symptoms are largely unchanged. Am I seriously expected to work right now? I can barely stay awake long enough to write this question.

So there's quite a bit of emerging research showing that Covid's spike proteins wreak havoc on the body's vascular system. How is the spike protein in the virus different from the spike protein that the mRNA in the Covid vaccine is instructing our cells to produce and our immune systems to create antibodies to? How did scientists ensure that the spike protein in the vaccine won't have the same effects as the protein in the actual virus?

DPW has made the Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for all U.S. offices. Anyone who doesn‘t have the vaccine will not be permitted to enter the premises. Can I please check how the other BigLaw firms are dealing with this? Don‘t want to start a political discussion, but this seems very intruisive to me.

I’m back to having no billable work again. My department almost completely dried up when covid started, so I’ve been relying on work from other busy departments at my firm to keep me busy since March. I feel like I start a new job every couple of weeks and am constantly begging for work. I’m just exhausted. Can anyone else relate?

Unvaccinated people need to stop with the “but if you’re vaccinated why do you care” argument. Unvaccinated people are akin to drunk drivers. Even if I am sober and wearing my seatbelt, a drunk driver could still cause serious harm to me, my family, and those I care about. An unvaccinated person has a higher likelihood of catching and spreading Covid to others because they are cowards who care only about themselves. You are harming other people.

Working with an (external) headhunter for a role, and just found out they want me to proceed to the second round of interviews. I had told the headhunter after the first round that I was interested in moving forward (although I did express some concerns I had) but after thinking about it, I’ve decided I’m not interested in the role. Anyone feel super awkward around their team when they’re trying to develop you? My manager and leadership keep telling me that they see me owning the workstream I’m on soon and that I’ll be managing the project in the future and that I have big things ahead for me at the firm. The problem is that I’m job searching now and haven’t told any of them and it’ll be super awkward when I leave.

Thinking about buying a home in the next couple of years either around the Chicago area or suburbs with access to the city. Moms help me. I'm resentful that I got pregnant and now stuck dealing with the exhaustion of a newborn and recovery. My soul mate Hubby wanted kids, not me, but since it was "something he couldn't live without" I agreed since I was on the fence. He's super helpful and we have family to help out, which is more than most moms. But the exhaustion and PP depression is making me resent my decision and him. Baby is perfect, a regular healthy full term joy. I'm so blessed. But so miserable. Help.

Got promoted to senior but did not get a raise to go with it. Firm keeping salaries flat this year due to COVID-19, but I was shocked when I found out promoted staff wouldn’t be getting a raise either. To me, this whole thing rings hollow because the firm has told us multiple times that they were projecting flat growth for the year when compared to last year (which was one of the best in firm history). So it pisses me off that they shot their mouth off about how great year last year was...cont
