I’ve noticed a lot of negativity in other bowls towards travel and travelers, calling it not a real hobby or just rich flexing. How do you guys handle it? Is it worth it to try to explain what I enjoy about travel and what it means to me?

Sharing my experience here
One of my girl friends, and I went to Fairbanks, Alaska recently for a week. It was great!! If anyone wants to see the Northern lights, winter is the best time to go. We stayed at a well known hotel, ate out for every meal (4 nights, 5 days) + went on tours and dog sledding... if I take out our flight expense it was about ~1200 for each of us (including some light shopping too)

Just arrived to Sydney from Chicago with my wife and 2 sons both under 2. Escorted to hotel quarantine and spending these 2 weeks trying to figure out if I would/could/should make the move to Sydney permanent. Wife and kids are Australian citizens. Made a list of pros and cons- cons column is empty - the only concern is work. How are you folks doing with COVID economy? Are there significant downsizing? How’s the projected technology consulting pipelines down here?

Really struggling to determine my next steps... are exit opportunities better with a manager title or can I get something similar as a Sr? Love the work, hate 100% travel, can't be necessary weekly.

Intern here, and I want to know if it’s worth my time to try and retain both company-offered statuses: Marriott plat (for 1 year) and Hyatt explorist (thru 2024).

To do this, I would need to stay 10 nights at a Hyatt and 15 nights at a Marriott throughout the summer. Mapped it out and I would be able to retain both statuses if I traveled every week.

Is this worth the hassle to try? Should I just stick with Bonvoy? My family uses Hyatt and the point value is nice, Marriott hasn’t been bad tho
