How does everyone feel about unnecessary Zoom calls? Team arranges calls to touch base multiple times a week to talk about non-work related things.
The Deloitte audio conferencing doesn't work with the client laptop. Aaaand client hasn't paid for a webex license for contractors. How do I set up a call then?? #frustrated
How do you all keep up your skills if your job is boring and you are not learning much? I have an MBA & PMP, so mostly fall into program/project management consulting roles in healthcare (my industry).
But most of the work is basically 'babysitting' others while managing Microsoft Teams, Project, Excel, and PPT. I have decent soft skills but I feel like anyone can do my job.
Note: MBA is non-top 30. I also have a CPA (never licensed). I feel like someone like me should be doing much more!
Are there any video conference tools which provide option for recording in the free version?
E.g., zoom has the recording option but meetings can only be 40 minutes
Has anyone taken a fully remote job (aka it’ll be remote post-covid)? Any regrets or advice?
From the physical standpoint, I know you can rent out spaces so you don’t have to wfh all the time but I value camaraderie. At my last new job I started during the pandemic, I was able to make one work friend and we’d do Zoom lunches and stuff. It helped to a degree but idk if I can last 1-3 years never working with another person in-person.
I’m interviewing for BCG and had a principal reach out to me for a zoom chat. Is this normal for principals to reach out or is this a positive sign?
I’m intrigued by the rapid increase of people using zoom/Skype video on their calls - it feels like a trend in last 3 months . What’s people’s thoughts on this. Do you love it or hate it?
One silly question
I have just joined Deloitte and wanted to know whether ppl here ping normally on teams or skype?
A coworker just compared my maternity leave to her honeymoon asking if I turned off notifications on my Slack. Trying to remain calm…
Is it necessary to do an in-person interview all the way across the country if I was just on campus for a visit in December? Is Skype sufficient if offered?
I want to maximize chances for acceptance.
Recently interviewed someone in a group setting on zoom for a much higher position than any of us on the call. The candidate was lovely, but my colleagues (all women) were on their phones the whole time and were more concerned with selling themselves than determining if the candidate was the right fit. They definitely didn’t portray our team or the company in a nice light. Do I bring it up to my boss? Do I sit back and see if that candidate decides not to pursue us further?
It’s the way it doesn’t matter where I am in my apartment I can hear my Skype going off. This job is exhausting sometimes 😩😩
moms- coming in as a partner level from outside the firm. what are female@partners wearing on zoom calls? casual? put together but semi casual? full blazer- suit situation? Thx
Has anyone in here had rhinoplasty and if so, how long were you out of work? I know I can do zoom calls off camera but not sure how many days to take off.
5 year Contract specialist and finance analyst currently entertaining Program integrator contractor opportunities. The highest offer I received has been 117k for a “Asst PM”. Do you all think it’s worth the jump at this salary with my level of experience? I’m currently a GS11 and highly confident I’ll get my 12 this year following promo season. I think If I stay with the government for 1 more year I can gain more experience, free training and leverage for more money. I have friends making 120k+
New to US, is it true that next week people travel all over the country to be thankfull for what they have on Thursday, then fight eachother to death to buy new things at discounted prices on Friday?
What according to you guys is the ideal time to get married? I am 26, earning 15 LPA and do not have any ongoing loans. Only responsibility I have is to take care of my mom. Suggestions or advices from senior folks are much appreciated. 🙂
I didn’t think I would ever say this, but I don’t think I’m getting enough work...
I think my manager is having some trouble delegating work, as I often ask for action items in which they often respond “no”, but I will see them working on a deliverable. For context I’m the only resource below my M, yet I feel under utilized and my M is constantly working late. Should I raise the concern to my SM if I’m worried that my M may be a bottleneck?
Should you just leave 401k money in target day funds? Is there a way to invest it myself?
Anyone out here?
Hello! I'm in internal HR as a HRBP but am looking to get into HR Consulting in the next 2-3 years. Among the Big 4 Accounting Firms and Big 3 (MBBs), which has the best HR Consulting practice?
I have 3 months in between leases and can go anywhere in the US. Any recommendations for places more ‘off the beaten path’? Would be May - July. All ideas welcome 🤠
I want to start seeing a therapist but don’t know how best to find the right one. Not into the idea of “dating” around until I find someone. Any recommendations or sites I can reference? Asking in NYC
TIL: This season, a 36-yr old veteran broke the single season record for highest 3-pt percentage in the NBA history...
