I made partner the year I was on leave. No issues. The firm was extremely accommodating

I was out on maternity leave while I was promoted to manager. I was lucky to find some good champions within the firm but had to really advocate for myself and stay on top of the process while I was out on leave.

Yes. I was nervous because I had to present to an executive panel. Thankfully, they switched all presentations to remote instead of in person. I was 4 months at the time and kept it a secret because I don’t trust what happens behind closed doors. I got the promotion.

My mom is going through a very bad situation with her previous employer who is not paying her her correct retirement benefits after screwing up their paperwork. She worked for a school district for about 15 years. She has a case but she is afraid it’s not high value enough to attract the attention of the attorney. School district is now ghosting her. If anyone has advice or interest, please let me know, thanks so much

Do any other firms have a policy that requires you to return to work for a certain period after paid parental leave, and if you choose to leave you are required to pay it back? If so, is there anyone who decided to leave before the end of that period? What happens if you can’t afford to pay it back?

Thoughts on Indexed Universal Life Insurance as an investment vehicle? I hear the pros and cons from the sellers of this, whom I understand gain heavy commissions. But wanted to get thoughts from investors and if this isn't a good vehicle, what alternative investment vehicles do you suggest (outside of stocks, Roth, 401k, and real estate)? Looking to diversify my portfolio. I'm 43, married, income 600k combined, and we have 2 properties worth 3m and investment accounts worth ~2-3m. Thanks!

He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Anyone know much about routers? Hey Fb friends - need an advise. My current firm hasn’t stated my GC process yet and with current processing time it appears to be somewhere around 12-15 months time to get PERM approved. In addition my current firm needs leadership approval & they make me sign a reimbursement form in case I quit. On other hand, I have approved i40 from my ex-employer (Big4) who fired me last fall, I don’t know if they will hire me back. Since I am from India and the date of filing appears like going to be…cont.

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, The New Yorker released the transcript of a previously unpublished interview with James Baldwin, who gave a first-hand account of "Freedom Day 1963," a Black voter-registration drive in Selma, Alabama. Baldwin's descriptions from that day are so vivid and detailed that you can feel the fear and anger of the event. If you have a couple of minutes, I highly recommend you read it.
