Has anyone gotten a DEXA scan? If so, how did you like it? Thank you!

There’s a Huberman Lab podcast with Dr. Peter Attia and they touch on DEXA a bit, along with a wealth of other info. The episode is time-stamped so you can go right to the DEXA portion, but it’s all good stuff.

Thanks C1, this was really helpful. Definitely provided a new perspective on bone density!

We get them through work. They are very helpful. Now I know my BMR and my BF percent. We get one free from work every 6 months, so we can see our progress from making fitness/diet changes.

I’ve had them for my osteoporosis. Just a mild X-ray.

Go easy on DEXA scans. You are contraindicated for some therapies if you have had a DEXA scan recently.

Thanks! Hard to differentiate on an online platform.

I’ve gotten one, it was very informative in terms of how my body fat and lean muscle was distributed around my body. Good to get one every now and then but they are expensive

Oh I didn’t realize HSA was allowed. I’ll use my FSa on it. Thank you

I was thinking of getting one too :)

You got this — I think eating right is the first step! I’m trying to do better too, good luck to you as well!

If you are into data - it’s amazing. If you are curious - it’s a lot of data that might or might not be useful.

You should do it then. Though unless it’s a great discount - just get them one at it then. Changes take a while, unless you are going at it like extreme makeover style. You don’t need to get them more often than every 6 months to a year.

Moving to San Diego from Santa Barbara. Looking to be relatively central so I can meet people, go out for drinks or other fun active activities (I'm a runner) What are your thoughts on the vibes in Banker's Hill vs. Point Loma (liberty station) vs Little Italy vs North Park? Is there somewhere else I should be considering?

Growing up I’ve always wondered if I had some form of ADHD since I had a lot of trouble focusing in class. Lately I’ve found myself zoning out during meetings more often and started wondering again. Can anyone share their journey on how they got diagnosed, what your first steps were, and if you used any firm resources?

I recently posted here about finding how underpaid Im compared to my peers and subordinates.I need help. I’m so angry and bitter (describes me the best right now) that Im unable to work with the same enthusiasm as before, not able to be ‘nice’ and help everyone that asks, in fact when the peer of mine (earns $20k more and does less than half the work) asks me questions, i just get so impatient. How do I fix this. I just want to do the bare minimum, but that’s just not me. Help pls 😰

Is it possible to lose weight with minimum workout and no extreme diets? I know I have to change my eating habits but I really don't believe that cutting carbs or sugar completely out of my life is the answer. Was planning to have green smoothies in the morning, and then lunch and dinner 50% veggies, 25% carbs and 25% protein. If I have a carby meal like pasta then the other one in the same day has to be only veggies and protein. Does this sound ok?
