I do not trust lasik. There have been many cases with complications. The worst being excruciating chronic eye pain that does not go away. Even if it’s a small percentage of people that experience these complications, I personally would not risk it.
Exactly. The cut eye never heals. Only corneas. Hence, professional or extreme sports usually advise against lasic
I got lasik once and was wondering if people ever do it twice. were you told that you needed to have it done again?
Oh ok. well I guess it would ok to do twice if needed but I have no heard of this! I am very curious to see if you hear from anyone that has gotten it twice. I do understand not trusting the drs.
It may have changed now but few years back I was offered a choice between PRK and Lasic. Doctor explained that PRK recovery is about a week but I can perform again in a future. Lasic is a one time deal because they actually cut the eye to do the surgery. Hence, 24 hour or so recovery.
The choice between lasik and PRK depends on the thickness of your cornea. During lasik they cut the cornea to create a flap and shoot the laser with the flap moved. They then glue it back into place. In PRK, they shave down the cornea and create a hole to shoot the laser through. You could have lasik a second time if desired, but it depends on the thickness remaining in your cornea. I had lasik 7 years ago and it's the greatest decision I've ever made. My vision isn't as sharp anymore, still 20/20 with some farsightedness setting in, but that's expected with the natural process of my eyes aging. As you get older, your focal point changes. This is why it is recommended to get lasik later on when your vision settles out.
