I’m on my 5th shot

I will take the vaccine every time, but that’s me. I rather enjoy having cameras inserted into my blood stream, especially if they’re marked with 666 . 😂

Are people able to get the booster shot already?

Why would insurance block you? (Honest question)

like

I haven’t gotten one yet (I’m immunocompromised). My doc is one of the leads on this stuff for CDC recommendations and told me they’re leaning toward a booster, but aren’t ready to recommend it yet. It’s too soon to determine if it’d be more than a waste given what they’re seeing on antibody degrade rates for immune compromised and immune suppressed. If I got a 3rd, there’s no reason to think I’d be more protected for transmissibility - it’d be a waste. Was told my best bet is still masking and limiting contact. To your question on insurance, insurance isn’t a factor at all. The vaccines don’t require insurance.

like

Of course the people who make money selling vaccine doses will tell you that you should get more doses. Doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong, just take it with a big grain of salt until independent research verifies

Where do I sign?!!

like

My husband and I got the J&J, and he REALLY wants us do whatever we can to get a first dose of another. There have been studies out showing this helps a lot for the J&J. I’m not comfortable skirting the rules, and I wish it were clear if we would be “allowed”. So, I feel you OP. We live in CA and they seem to have a centralized vaccination record so I’m just not sure we would be able to.

The shot cost 20 dollars and was pre paid for. Insurance isn't a part of the equation.

like

I mean you could be asked to pay for it. It's 20 dollars...

A third shot??

Would a third dose prevent you from transmitting it to your kids? I was under the impression the vaccine helps protect the host, but not necessarily the host’s ability to carry or transmit the virus. That being one of the reasons why we need as many people to get vaccinated as possible.

If you don't get the virus, you can't transmit it. So any increase in protection is a win-win.

How can I become more “okay” with being an average performer? I’m two years out of school and have been considered a high performer so far, but it’s taken a toll on my mental health and I feel anxious most days. I’m what people may consider an insecure overachiever. Has anybody here ever had the same feeling?

Ugh. I went on vacation last week for meeting my boyfriend’s family for the 1st time/his sister’s wedding. I’ve been trying to lose quarantine weight for the past 5 months ahead of this trip (healthier eating, working out 5-6x a day, calorie deficit). I was getting back to my old physique pre covid. But during this trip I just ate everything without thinking twice. Especially when his family would offer food cause I didn’t want to be rude. Now I feel back to square 1. Continued below..
