Has anyone had an heirloom diamond & platinum ring re-set? How much did it cost (& what city / COL area)? Trying to gather more benchmark data points for mine (same design). TIA

This is vague! Are you resetting 1 diamond? Multiple diamonds? Buying side stones? Setting in platinum?

Large center classic round diamond flanked by two small tapered baguettes. Platinum. Same design, materials, stones and size. Only need to have it re-set b/c I just learned it's no longer structurally sound as it's 65 years old and had wear from being worn with other rings. Likely was never reset before so I of course want it to be safe for wearing it during my lifetime now, but curious what other jewelers have charged for similar type of work.

1200-3000 unless baguettes are huge

My ring is 105 years old. It’s a 1 ct center stone with intricate carving around the setting & visible half of the band. The band itself tapered & was super delicate. It finally broke & I had to get most of the band replaced with new gold (18kt white). It cost $400 - I was floored. I thought it would be so much more expensive.
