Has anyone had experience or know someone that was an FBI special agent for accounting/finance? I am really drawn to this but I am concerned about the 50 hour minimum weeks, including odd hours and having to be on call 24/7.

Haha

I have a really good friend who is a CPA that started at the FBI in the “white collar” crime division. He never worked odd hours unless they had some event in town that required all hands on deck. And the benefits are unbelievable. He’s a full agent now and does work a lot but you aren’t on call 24/7.

I actually went through 8 months of the application process last year, very time consuming, got cut short for lack of “life experience” but will be applying again in the future. Need a bit more purpose in life rather than building excel models and recommendations

Also considered it but they have strict requirements about no marijuana use for past 3 years.

I see people in here don’t know how to give helpful advice at all. I’ve made the decision to just put my foot out of the door. I’ve voiced my concerns to the program manager. They were ignored. I think I’m willing to take a pay cut to get my life back. I work 100-125hrs a week I also work 7 days a week. The hours aren’t the issue. I’ve done it before it’s the fact that I miss having my weekend nights off. It’s a drain mentally . So here I begin a new job search .

Can someone explain to me why biglaw firms don’t “review up” and have junior/mid level associates evaluate senior associates? I understand partners have no interest in hearing the minions gripe, but wouldn’t it be valuable to know if your senior associates—seeking to enter your partnership are good managers and not complete a**holes? I’ve had so many projects mismanaged by clueless senior associates lately and it seems like juniors/mid levels bear the brunt of it, but there’s no recourse.

I am in a counsel role at an AmLaw 100 firm. Was contacted by a recruiter about a counsel position at a V50, but they want my law school transcript. I graduated from law school 17 years ago. Is this just about confirming I actually have a degree or are they actually going to look at my grades?

Some new associates have done such bad job that no senior wants to give them work. Those people get to go home at 4 and other associates have to take additional projects. It seems very unfair

Are most people still targeting 20%+ increase to jump from public to industry? I found a job that seems kind of interesting but it would only be a 10% jump, which will likely be my raise in public this year. The recruiter said 8–10% is pretty typical in my area.
