Following. Can this be used with their self directed investment account?

Wait what? Is this a personal self directed IRA or an employer self directed 401k?

Curious as well. Have private client but wouldn’t mind a robo advisor to go with it

I am new to FIRE concept but very much intrigued- to get freedom to follow my passion earlier. I am 48 and my SO is 49.
Currently assets - 1.1M in combination of 401k, Roth and trad. IRA. 120k in brokerage. We both currently max out our 401k and Roth every year and also invest 1k every month in brokerage.
30k in 529 for 1 kid - hopefully will not need much more. 4 mths expenses in cash.
I would love to retire in 7 yrs at 55. SO wants to work until 62.
So you think we have enough to retire?

If my company is deducting tax on reimbursements for example relocation, flight travel, mobile usage, etc. Then how to show in tax filing? bcoz as per my understanding it should not be taxable as I am using my money and company is refunding and no extra income. It's like I have already paid once and while refunding company again deducting. Please guide on this issue.

Hello Fishes,

I am new to the investing world. I have invested some 80k in Nifty fifty index funds. I wanted to increase my investment in other MFs and stocks.

Can you advise how to start it considering short term and long term financial goals.

Short term goals - like for 2-3 years

Long term goals - like for 5-6+ years or more depending upon the performance

I have seen multiple you tube videos but seems to get confused on how to start and which funds to pick.

Thank you!

Question on savings
I'm in the 30% tax bracket and hate paying tax
In a year, I invest 50k in NPS and 50k in VPF(voluntary provident fund as it has the max guaranteed interest)
With both I get a tax exemption of 1 lakh(80c section).
Otherwise, I'd pay 30k as tax and have 70k in hand to invest in other places

Question: is it worth doing nps and vpf with the inflation and lock in period? Is the extra 50k nps worth it?
Or better to invest in 3 year locked ELSS mf n ignore nps 50k?
Thoughts???

Hi all. I’m making a career shift from graphic design to project management. I’ve spent the last 3 months interning as a PM at a small (<15 people) marketing agency; reported to our account manager, worked closely with the co-owners; exceeded expectations. I received a full-time offer: head of PM, reporting to one co-owner, on equal footing with my summer supervisor; $40k base. Looking at local industry standards, average sits around $75k base. Can I reasonably negotiate and ask for $60k base?

Anyone made the switch from payer/provider consulting to LS/Pharma? Are you able to keep your level or move up during the transitions.

I joined pwc last month and feel the offer is very very low, kinda lowballed. I am looking out again for better offers.

Additional Posts in FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

I’d love to retire by 35. I know about the 25x expenses rule for a 4% withdrawal rate, but how does that account for 401ks that I can’t access until my 50’s? What about real estate?

I’m 26.
•$150k in 401k/IRA
•$220k in real estate (excl. primary)
•$88k in cash/brokerage
• the rest in HSA/primary home/other.

To calculate FIRE, am I only looking at the $88k that I can access readily? Real estate is cash flowing, but not sure how/if to factor in the equity.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Fb! I'm 30 yrs old. I'm trying to figure out and plan my life to set myself up for success in the future. I wish I had known things like enrolling in a high deductible health plan at 24 when I started work so that I could enroll in a HSA for the triple tax savings or the importance of maxing out a Roth IRA or maxing out a 401K and not just to the employer match. What are some things you wish you had known earlier or by age 30? In some ways, I feel like I'm late in the game. See more 👇🏻

Hi, new to this bowl ☺️ I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to put my money, if not in a regular savings account? I’m so so grateful to have graduated from college over a year ago with no debt and I have minimal living expenses, so I’ve been able to save a lot. A percentage of my paycheck goes towards my company Roth 401K and company stocks, but I feel clueless about how to be smarter with my money and not let it ‘collect dust’ lol.

Mortgage strategy question: moving from HCOL to MCOL city, selling current house and buying a new one. Will net enough equity from the sale for up to 20% down payment. How do you think about mortgage rates, points, PMI, etc for the new purchase? I'm in favor of putting less down and investing the difference, but not if the terms are worse.

And I'm talking with both a broker and a credit union - is one better than the other?

I am in my early 40's and have about $300K invested and some in cash. I have $70K in credit card debt (no lavish lifestyle, just 2 bouts of unemployment and some major medical expenses, even after insurance).

I live below my means, LCOL city, used car, max my 401K, save my bonuses, etc.

I am going to get a large bonus where after tax, I'll get a couple hundred thousand.

Should I prioritize pay off all credit cards or pay down half/some of the cards and use the rest for a house down payment?
