3. Which Business Unit I should avoid?(known for its horrible wlb)
4. Other advice/insight?

It’s going to depend how much the firm wants/needs you and how the people you’ll be working with operate. Some offices/teams will be okay with this, others won’t because if everyone else is doing hybrid, it is difficult to give an exception for one person.
Definitely broach the subject on the early side so you don’t waste anyone’s time (yours or theirs).

My worry is me being the exception, so it seems really unlikely that I'd get to be fully remote. Which unfortunately is a deal breaker for me.
Yes! I start next month

How were you able to do that? This firm is big with multiple offices across the US so I have no idea how that would fly. Especially since it's advertised as hybrid

Yes, I live in San Diego and was able to get a full remote position with a LA office that is hybrid. I made sure to ask and make it clear early on that I would only move from my past firm if they kept me remote. It isn’t big law though, and they have offices in LA, NY and DC.

I definitely want to ask in that the interview if they are open to fully remote and take it from there. Say that I love the firm and really want to work there, but due to the long commute, I want it to be a fully remote position and I can go in person for firm events. I don't want to bring it up late. This location has a small office so I'm hoping it goes in my favor. And I don't blame you, wouldn't want to go in either lol.
Yes, a few of them. I just apply and say like hey I’d love to interview but I don’t work in person.
After reading your comments, you could potentially “meet in the middle” and offer to go in once a week. That seems reasonable and a lot better than your current situation. Just a suggestion.

It for sure is meeting in the middle. I've just had firms burn me in the past by flip flopping on me so I'm very worried of something like that happening again.
