Acceptance is the answer.
It can be done! But if you’ve been on that high of a dose for that many years, I’d talk to your doctor about creating a safe plan for decreasing and stopping. ❤️
I try to taper myself , but mostly looking for strategies people have tried to help not feel so shitty. Psychiatrist know how to write scripts, or just stop if they think it’s addiction, otherwise they are not good at helping reduce
Adderall was not my drug of choice but I enjoyed taking it when work was busy. When I got clean (3.5 yr ago) I wanted Adderal so bad bc I had to focus at work and I wanted that feeling. My substitute has been to have a scoop of pre-workout each morning. It's fun to try all the types bc some are very close to the Adderal feeling lol I keep a container at home and another in my desk.
The answer I don't think you are looking for...
Since this is a prescribed medication that feels normal to you, it might seem like you just need to taper off, maybe for you it could be that simple. Ten years on is a long time. If it were me, I would bite the bullet and go to a detox. People probably hear detox and think it's all junkies. We are there too but its honestly just a setting where you can lay in bed and be miserable which a bunch of other people that understand how you feel. You can drag yourself out of bed for some vitamins, orange juice, and unlimited uncrustables. You can talk to educated people about a plan going forward so you don't need to continue taking it. You can learn other options to give you the energy and focus you crave.
It's usually 5 days. You can take a long weekend from work and come out a new person with a plan.
I also just think everyone could use a nice stint in rehab though 🤣🤣
If you search detox, you might find more results. Technically, rehab is longer, like 28 days. Detox can be 3-7 days depending what you go in for.
While you are in detox, they will usually try to talk you into staying longer but it's all your process.
