I found it to be really patronizing. I use my Fitbit versa and log calories in the app instead.

I’m doing it now to try to lose the 5 lbs that creeped on in the last decade of middle age. But, it’s really aimed at old, inactive and really fat people. They give you a calorie allowance broken into red, yellow and green foods. So i get ~1200 a day but only 300 of those should be in the red group. Most of the “learning” boils down to “cut out soda!” As if I’ve had soda in 15 years? And like “get up to 10k steps a day by increasing from 2000 steps as a start.” And, my fave, “eat ice cream so long as it’s in your budget!” When my budget for “red” foods is 300 calories and a tablespoon of olive oil on my sweet green is 120 of those...well, it’s just written to be applicable to folks who are much heavier.
And the tone of the reading is pretty juvenile and silly. If you don’t have any good habits and didn’t know that eating heavy fatty foods was not as good as eating fruit and veg, and need some mind games to get you to exercise, then it may be illuminating, but otherwise it misses the mark for me almost entirely. I’m using it as kind of a my fitness pal plus, and I did learn that I tend to eat all green and red foods and nothing in their yellow category, so the one change it’s sparked is for me to eat a lighter lunch in that category. And the logging has reminded me to use measurements for portion control.
But all of that can be done with basic calorie awareness and no monthly fee. If anyone knows of an app that’s better for already very active people without emotional food issues who just need to tweak as they age, lmk. I don’t love MFP.
So true! I’m using it now but am ending my account at the end of the month. Had literally lost 2lbs in 7 weeks with workouts 4X week. Am getting stronger but this isn’t helping me lose weight
I used it and lost 50 lbs in about 6 months. My wife used it and didn’t lose anything. It’s more about the psychology than anything else. It pushes you to eat less calorie dense foods but nothing is off limits. You try to hit your targets for green, yellow and red foods. If you use it, you need to go all in and meticulously track what you are eating. I don’t need the coaching and encouragement from the app any more so I track using MyFitnessPal. YMMV.
I really enjoyed it and used it to drop 8 pounds prior to my wedding!
I found the way they discuss research engaging. It was also nice that there was a daily to-do list. They kind of predict when you’ll be experiencing emotional challenges/plateaus and that was really helpful to encourage mindful eating. I learned a lot about my relationship with food!
I lost 30lbs and have kept it off a year and a half now, including during the pandemic. I’m a fan.

According to pod save America it works.
I'm using it. Dropped 15lb so far in just under 2 months.

Mom and sister have used it. Both have seen great results and love it.
