Has anyone had the experience where they travelled home for the weeks around Christmas but wound up having tension with family because you had to stay logged on all the time and couldn’t spend much time with them?

Yeah it’s tough you gotta be able to set boundaries with work and family at the same time.

No cause I just don’t get to see my family for Christmas now

Are you me

Yeah. I always feel guilty. But my parents were both in corporate America so they get it. Working from their place for a week is better than not going home at all.

Yea it’s ridiculous. I left big law as I didn’t want this lifestyle

Another firm just not big law

I have been apartment hunting in the Austin area. I need to move closer to work. The commute is emotional damage lol. I’m being dramatic. Nonetheless, I need to be closer to work.

My question is does anyone have experience or feedback to give about renting a room in a house and sharing common area with roommates?

It is one option I am considering, but hesitant to go this route.

My wife and I both work fulltime with 2 kids under 7 going to school. I do all the dishes, cleaning, prep lunch and pick up the kids as my wife is very busy in the day with back to back calls. The kids schools start early and my wife drops them, she wakes up early at 6 AM and goes to bed at 7:30-8 PM with my kids. This schedule leaves zero time for us to spend together or be intimate. I am slowly simmering to frustration living as roommates despite voicing my concerns repeatedly.Any suggestions?

How did you know when you were ready to have a baby? Or were you ready before you had your first? My husband wants to start having kids and has been pushing for it for a couple years now, but I take care of our finances, and I don’t feel at all prepared. Maybe I’m also a little scared to become a mom, so I keep saying finances is my excuse, but I am also a little financially concerned. I don’t feel ready emotionally and him pressing me is making it harder.

My husband is an alcoholic and it’s getting worse with the holidays. He’s started every day drinking high alcohol-content IPAs as early as 8am. And he drinks them all day and all night like soda. He did AA when he was younger but is now vehemently against it. He is high-functioning. Has a PhD from MIT and works for a venture capitalist firm. I wondered how he gets through the day, but he started to come home early (mid-afternoon) and immediately open a beer while working. What should I do?
