Has anyone had this issue?
I left PA after almost two years and started in a new role at a boutique investment firm last month. Although my salary and title aren’t entry-level, I’m the least tenured on my team (obviously). I’m realizing that the four others on the team treat me like I’m straight out of college and feel the need to over explain everything. One person keeps telling me that “it’ll take at least a few months for you to understand what I’m talking about”. While I appreciate (cont)
I don’t think this is worth worrying about. If anything it’s to your benefit. It’s a classic under promise over deliver opportunity for you. as soon as you work with them you will have a chance to show that you are plenty competent and they will stop treating you that way
Mentor
They’re setting you up to succeed. I’m sure you want to prove yourself but right now they have low to no expectations, and you can ask any and all questions. Take the time to learn the job and company. And dazzle them with your awesomeness.
With 2 years of experience, you don’t know what you don’t know. Like everyone said, they are trying to be helpful. I wouldn’t look too much into it. It’s a great situation for you to just do what you do best and shine in that situation. It would be different if they were bullying you but from what you are saying, it’s just them being nice
...the extra help, I don’t want them to look at me like I’m helpless, since I do have my CPA and was very comfortable in my PA role (advisory/consulting). I’m under the impression that the only person on the team who respects me and my experience is the Controller who hired me and asks for my help. Is this normal for people who leave PA?
For more context, the only person with PA experience is the CAO, who I also work relatively close with. Everyone else started directly out of college, which I think contributes to their training methods.
Thanks for the feedback!
