As a federal employee who also knows Quantico well thanks to my experience delivering packages there before, it depends on whether you are going there as active duty or a civilian, where you are going to work on the base, and your rank/salary. I recommend if you are active duty, you stay no further north than Dumfries and no further south than Fredericksburg before the bridge (don't cross it!). This will give you the most reasonable commute time and you have a few options with back roads to get from Fredericksburg to Quantico. This area is more expensive the closer to DC you get, and cheaper in Fredericksburg, so consider that. Also, consider that if you work near the train station, there are commuter trains going from Fredericksburg to Quantico. If you want some insights as to the housing qualities in areas Woodbridge to Stafford, message back here.
I was never stationed at Quantico but I do live in DC.
I’d avoid Woodbridge. Maybe even look at Alexandria, still quite far but a nice city and you could take 1 all the way. What’s your budget? That will probably drive your decision the most.
You can try Springfield
Arlington if you still want access to DC. The commute is the opposite of the way majority of traffic is going. I never went to DC while I was in Quantico because I lived in Stafford and the drive was terrible.
Really all over. Other posters are covering well the hatred for Woodbridge. Aquia Harbor in Stafford is really close to the back gate and a decent neighborhood. Most younger officers live toward DC. I knew some more senior guys who lived all the way down in Fredricksburg.

I live next to Quantico in a baller house in a great neighborhood. PM me
I lived in Arlington and Alexandria when I was stationed at Quantico. Commute is 45 minutes in the morning and a little less than an hour in the evening. Tell your partner his work-life balance will be exponentially better living with you than trying to live close to base.
Update: we went apartment searching and he’s signing a lease in pentagon city 😁 thank you!!!!!!
I was stationed there active duty and lived off base later as a contractor. I enjoyed living in Stafford. 20-30 mins to base and lots of restaurants there.
Price point is a huge driver on this one. ARL and Alexandria are pricing folks out even with healthy BAQ. Agree 100% re Woodbridge; it’s soulless
Thanks BCG1!! I’m really trying to convince him!!!
