Has anyone here considered giving up on their startup? If so, why, and what did you end up doing?

I feel like the pandemic changed how I feel about startups and being an entrepreneur. Having so much responsibility for every decision is overwhelming, and I find myself longing for the mindlessness of a corporate job where nothing really matters lol. I’m worried if I jump ship I’ll regret it, though :(.

Almost every entrepreneur and business owner I know or have worked with has thought about quitting multiple times.

Personally, I’ve thought about quitting a few times. I decided to continue going because I know that for me there’s no greater feeling in the world than helping someone get the life they want

Are you a solo founder? I also wonder if it’s a good idea to get co-founders.

Yep, just me. I think both can work, really depends on the business and people

Most startups fail.

Often we idolize the founders who overcome insurmountable odds, couch surf to cut costs, virtually drown in debt to realize their vision for a business, etc. and come out victorious as CEOs of multi-billion dollar companies.

It’s unhealthy and unrealistic to think this is a prerequisite to success.

If I were you, I would set realistic goals and constraints for your business. What’s your budget? What are your metrics for growth? How can you signal to yourself that this is worth doing and not a waste of your time and money? This isn’t limit to business metrics either. How is your personal health affected? Your relationships?

If you set targets and hit or exceed them, great! Maybe you’re onto something worth cultivating. If you keep swinging and missing, maybe it’s time to cut your losses and become a salaryman until the next opportunity arises.

Most startups fail! Don’t let this one drag you down if it’s not serving you.

I live in Dayton, OH. I would love some insight or feedback. I also see Gpac recruiting popping up, is this a reputable co? Ty!

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

What’s better? Being an M&A partner at a firm with PPP of $4-6M or PPP of $1-2M? Just thinking $1-2M is already plenty of money so if there’s some recovery of work/life balance as compared to the $4-6M PPP firms, which I assume would be the case, then I’d be drawn more to partnership at the $1-2M PPP firms. Any thoughts? Prefer my marriage over prestige
