Has anyone here exited for Budget Analysis in the federal government? Just wondering what hours are like in both budget development and the rest of the year. Specifically interested in the DOE, but anything would be helpful.

Budget offices in government are sad sad places

like

Haha do you mind expanding on that?

Don’t know about the DOE, but within other elements of the IC I used to work with some budget folks, the hours were exactly the same as any other function. If there’s a cfo funds sweep, which may not be the case with DOE maybe they were a little busier… but generally speaking the wlb is typical gov, very easy.

That’s helpful. Thank you for sharing

lol I would disagree with the fact that they’re sad sad places. Don’t have experience with federal government but do with state. Obviously biased but I find it to be rewarding and interesting from both a policy and politics perspective. I would say budget development season is much busier than the rest of the year but also we’ve been busy for a while now so there hasn’t been the ebbs and flows of work like years past. Half of that is driven on the politics of my state though.

Hello london fish,

Does anyone have any insight into what it's like to work on data strategy for BCGDigital beyond marketing materials? I.e. actually working there. This is mainly focused on actual project life for associate, split between digital and standard BCG projects, pay progression differences, team alignment, etc.

Thanks in advance!!

(for some reason I can't tag BCG)

I work for a midsize Regional law firm and am working on a deal with an AM50 firm on the other side. Normally when I work with larger firms their documents are pristine, but every document I’ve gotten from them (from several different attorneys) is sloppy. Typos, grammatical errors, confusing wording, etc. Anyone else experience this with certain “Big Law” firms? I’m just sort of shocked to keep getting documents from them that look like a 1st year drafted it without anyone reviewing it.

Hi all, i am currently expecting, told in the office about the same. Initially i felt support from my team but lately i have been facing some issues with senior managers. Mandatory wfo when there is no such corporate policy (if you are on leave you are required to cover it later), work pressure, unnecessary feedback, irritable tone, "personal suggestion" to take early maternity.
This has started to build up mental and physical stress now.
