GitLab pays based on location. While at this company, I moved from Denver to Austin. I got an upward adjustment, but honestly wasn't expecting one. My priority was to be closer to my family, which is why I moved back to Texas.

We have an decent space (open floor plan :( ) in an amazing location near Union Station. We have amazing food and bar options all around. It is almost worth going back into the office.

I wanted to move from SF to Austin but it was going to be 10% pay cut and it might be worth it but decided to sit it out a bit.

10% is nothing. You pay more just in State CA income tax. I had a 20% difference and still calculated it was worth it (without even taking into account lifestyle improvement)

Let me just say this; as a black professional, I do not in any way condone this rioting or looting or destruction of property in protest of the recent happenings. It creates more problems long term. But I do understand that bottling up frustrations is expressed differently. I sincerely hope we can reign in this protest and channel our frustrations to solve the underlying issue of racial injustice and just abject disregard for the lives of people of color.
