When you find out you’re getting promoted
Like, I dunno man, you okay...?
Looking for referrals for Facebook (Meta) if anyone can help me out! I applied for the Associate General Counsel (Commercial) role and I’m coming from a publicly traded company where I have been Regional Counsel. I have 10 years experience in-house, 5+ doing commercial agreements. I’m really interested in this position, so if you’re willing to refer me please send me a message and we can work something out! Thank you!@

I did ! I'm now at Year 6. Over 30 employees, $3 M in revenues last year.
Launching an agency and growing it will be like stairs and not a steady hill. There are really major steps each time the number of employees doubles.
The main challenges are according to me HR (recruitment, not being able to attract the best talent at the beginning, etc.) As you grow, there will also be more opinions and personalities.
If you have a partner, maintaining the vision and getting along might be an issue.
Business development has never been an issue for us and WOM was amazing but I can see that being a challenge as well.
And the last one is : an expert is not necessarily a manager. There will be a time where the management of the company might be a challenge if you don't have project management, accounting, etc. skills.
Wow this is really great. Thanks for sharing all of this! Its really inspiring to read.
I'd be really interested in doing it but I worry about not knowing all the details of running an entire agency. It would take a lot of support, wouldn't it?

No. You didn't miss out on anything. If you took the job rather than being a freelancer is because you needed it from a learning point of view. The whole entrepreneur sphere is a universe of skills by itself indeed. But if you don't have the actual professional expertise to back up your services, you might have the entrepreneurial skills but the overall offering is going to lack depth. You gotta know your thing.

I started one year ago. Lots of uncertainty but I had enough experience in agencies to have clients from day 1. What are your key concerns?
I am in the same boat and I have no idea how to start
