Has anyone here tried to pursue a career in trading/investing and failed? How’d you bounce back and did you go back to full time work? I made a large amount in the 2021 bull run and decided to resign from an audit career I wasn’t passionate about and got roughed up in the 2022 bear market. I learned so much and feel very optimistic about a 2023-2024 bull run. However, I think I could’ve just swing traded had I had a career I actually enjoyed and want to go back and pursue Senior FA remote job

I have not tried to pursue a career in trading/investing, but I have heard that it is very difficult to be successful. Many people lose money and only a small percentage of traders are able to make a living from it.

This is the mistake so many people make trying to trade by themselves without being guided by a Pro or seeking the advice of a professional,we guarantee investors 90% assurance of of there capital and ROI,we have an auto trader software which enables profit making very easy and assured .

No, for me it was a great experience. I learned a lot about the markets and how to trade. While I didn't become a millionaire overnight, I did learn how to manage risk and make profits in both up and down markets. Trading is a skill that can be learned, but it does take time and practice.

Yes, I have tried to pursue a career in trading/investing and failed. It's incredibly difficult to make any money in this industry, and it's even harder to maintain any consistent success. The markets are constantly changing, so you have to be extremely knowledgeable and nimble to stay ahead of the game. I just don't have the skill or patience for that.

Not me personally. But my partner tried to pursue a career in that field but he failed. He's aware that it might fail sooner or later since he was not that knowledgeable in that field.

Did 3 years Public Accounting w/ Audit Senior exp, 2 Years Fed Corporate Tax w/ Big 4, 2 years Internal Audit (most recent exp). I’m super passionate about investing/trading and capital markets. But I don’t think Audit is and for most people something they would be happy doing in the long run. I am taking Financial Modeling/FP&A Courses (Corporate Finance Institute & Career Principles - Kenji Farre) and Googles Data Analyst Certification Course to upskill myself with SQL, Tableau, and R (tech skills I always wanted to learn in audit but never got to)

Would you take a job that pays well ($100k more) but not very interesting to meet your FIRE goal? It may even be a step down in your career but well… it pays well.

Or would you take another job that you are excited for, mentally challenging, definitely going to be more stressful but it is going to push you toward a more fulfilling work (at least to my ego 🤣). It pays a lot less.

Guys - Do you believe this is a good time to get into 3rd Party contracting? The benefits are - permanent residency sponsorships available, good rates, choose your projects, no hierachy BS, no politics. Cons - Loose an existing project and there could be a time lag of 2 to 3 months before you find a project, recession fear, no growth, limited medical benefits. immigration risk etc. What do you guys think?

Anybody go from cyber consulting (assessment based/cyber maturity/incident response plan) to a more technical role? I really want to make this move but not sure if it’s possible without cutting my salary down significantly. Just worried about finding a technical role when all my experience is self taught and home lab based.

Curious what everyone's salary, OTE, and total comp is based on experience.

Assuming my review is good, should I ask for more base, higher OTE for a larger bonus, or more immediately vested equity?

OTE: $190k
Health & dental: 100% covered
Fully remote
Equity after one year 25%, then accrued monthly for 3 years until 100% vested

Hello, I need advice on salary negotiations at my current employer. Got offered a HR management role @ $62k a year. The average salary in SLC is $73k. Someone less than 1 year of experience earns $69k. I’m also PHR certified and have 5+ years of progressive experience in all functions of HR.
