The GI Bill will certainly pay for online classes. If you take all of your courses online you will receive a housing allowance of $916.50 per month. If you take just one class in person at a nearby institution and the rest online you will receive the full housing allowance for the zip code of the school. DC area is $2352.00 per month.
Courses that were scheduled to be in person but have shifted to online will count as in person.
Those numbers are for full time and pro-rate down to half time. I think below half time (usually 6 credits) you don’t get any BAH, but double check. The other thing to keep in mind is that GI Bill is all about time not money. So 12 credits in a 3 month semester at a school that costs $20k a semester costs you 3 months of your 36 month benefit.
The same 12 credits at community college with 4 month long semesters at a cost of $1500 for the semester will cost you more - 4 months of your benefit.
I’m using post 911 Gi bill. Covered 100% and getting BAH. Reach out to the veteran office of the school for specifics but once you’re enrolled and send over your paperwork, the office handles it for you. They just need to know your academic schedule like if you take a LOA or decrease to part time and how many credits you’re taking.
