Has anyone in Tax done a lateral move from Senior to Manager? How did that work out and how did you convince recruiters that you were ready for a lateral promo?

Any PowerBI consultants out there? Curious if the need for this is really out there, how lucrative it is, and what other skills help in your process (sql, python, etc)

Looking for advice on types of roles I should be searching in financial services. I am an expert communicator, both written and verbal (many publications, and pre-consulting/fs career in public speaking), and a great salesperson. Want to be able to keep writing and attending conferences, as well as have a sales component. I don't enjoy working with back office banking robots. Suppose you agree that the provided professional development offered through our districts is ineffective. Why not invest in your professional development by seeking a coach or mentor or even pay for professional resources that would help? To put it plainly, why don't we educators invest in our professional development?

Wondering if anyone knows of part-time gigs in this field. My current job is great, but I want to pay off debt faster, while maintaining some of my "data" skills.

I have written plenty of Stored Procs, ad-hoc, Functions, etc. in SQL Server. Administered SQL Server for a while as well, with permissions and roles and such. Was an ETL developer for a little while. Also did a lot of SSRS, some PowerBI, and a lot of just moving/transforming data, all over 5ish years. Any help is appreciated!

I plan on applying to accounting PhD programs later this year and every program requires letters of recommendation. I would love to get a letter from a partner at the firm I currently work at but I’m not sure how to go about it. If I ask for a letter they’ll know I have intentions of leaving but I plan on staying with the firm until I start the program which will be fall of 2021, almost a year after I ask for a letter. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about it?
