Hi there! For the last 20 years, I’ve been in project/program manager roles. Most recently, I spent the last 12 years in a learning development role managing the development of sales and technology training. Also, facilitating and partnering with sales on the development of Hunter workshops and sales/Pre-sales new hire training. I’m looking to switch careers to being in sales as an account manager / sales development rep. Advice on how to get interviews in this new dream role?
Has anyone successfully made the career move from an HR specialization to an HRBP role? If so, how? I have been working for 7 years in a very niche HR specialization and while I wear many hats on the HR team, I feel like this is hard to express to recruiters or even get an interview for an HRBP role. My niche area has really burnt me out, as it’s very political and I want to expand my horizons. I am already working on completing my GPHR certification. Any other tips?
Any stats on how many people get past 1st phone screening case interview with McK? Also if it’s phone does it mean no charts?
Interviewing with a small/mid-sized company that reached out through a recruiter. Not sure I’m ready to jump as only 1 YOE and have brought that up in both interviews. Want to keep the relationships with interviewers for future roles, is it better to excuse myself from the process or go to the end and decline politely?

So I am going to try and jump ship from PWC before the sale, should I start dressing in suits now so days I interview look less werid or just call out sick each day I have an interview?
I just moved to a foreign country and I am really in need of a job. I applied to a big 4 and spent weeks making it through interviews only to get turned down, because they wanted someone with big 4 experience. How can I get big 4 experience if a big 4 isn’t willing to hire me? I feel defeated.
I am looking to go in-house and I thought all of the interviews went well at one company. A week after my last interview, the internal recruiter contacted me just to touch base. 3 days later, I received an offer from another company and I contacted the recruiter from the job I want to tell her and she said she would check with the hiring manager and that we should she responded, “stay in close touch.” I emailed today casually to see if there was any update. No answer, any insight into why?
Hey guys, I'm trying to switch from consulting to product management. What resources/books/courses would you guys recommend for prepping for PM interviews?
Is the interview process to get into IBD harder or easier than top consulting firms like BCG/McKinsey/Bain? Where do the truly smart people work nowadays?
So I had my final interview yesterday in the industry (it was more so a 20 min convo with their CIO). Is it too early to follow up? I would never be pushy but I have another offer that I’m sitting on (as I would prefer the job that I interviewed for yesterday) so I need an answer asap
For people who have moved from India to the US, how different was the experience? I'm a software engineer. I want to know your feelings about differences in company culture, interviewing, and processes among other things.
I want to switch role as an AWS developer. But I have just learnt the things on my own in AWS. In interview I am asked questions based on real scenarios on which I am not having any experience. Any suggestions? Even if I do hands on on services like Linux academy or quiklabs, it would not help. (AWS cloud migration experience one can get if worked on a real project). Please help.
Have you ever quit a job and began your new job just to realize it is not what you were expecting? I’m at a new company and I completely hate it. The role described during the interview and job description is not even close to the work and lack of responsibility I actually have. I feel as if I was misled just so they could fill in a spot. My work is all loan staff. The challenging part is I have to force myself to complete my job. I’ve never was like this before. I have spoken (continued)
Has anyone reapplied for a role where they previously got rejected after interviewing? Was it successful?
What should you include in a cover letter to a large law firm in order to secure an interview?
Anyone know anything about Snackpass? Interviewing for a data analyst role there and can't find too much online.
I guess it's been almost 3 weeks since I had my system design interview with Amazon but still have not received any feedback - in spite of following up with recruiter. Most of the times - an excuse for delay but no clue if or when I'll get any update related to the result. To be honest - this is kinda making me feel - "hanging off the cliff". 😶 Anyone would like to share any thoughts/opinions ?
Thoughts on an MBA during recession? Toying with idea of attending grad school to wait out this recession. Stupid or smart? Would take out loans. Any advice from those who got their MBA in 07/08?
Got offer from a top 10 PE firm, but it’s a senior position in Corp accounting. Base comp increased by 13%. Currently M1, not sure if should I take the job for money or should pass because it’s a step down on title. Hours are about 40-50/wk
Have an interview with a startup tomorrow. What types of questions would you ask in my shoes? They are part of a venture innovation arm of a larger company, so less risk of falling flat, and relatively far along in product development TIA
Anyone completed PMP certification? I am just getting started. Preparing eligibility documents at this point. Need some guidance on this step and which is the best place to get 35 hours of PMP training?
PwC Advisory or EY FSO for M level role?
Currently preparing the TAM final round interview (RRK2, GCA, Googleyness/Leadership). Any tips that you might share regarding the three of those? Thanks
Getting an offer without ever doing an in-person interview (i.e. Skype only). Is it a thing?
Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one
Question on pay: Moved to industry and may have lowballed myself. Currently at 120k (110k + 10k bonus). Is this the norm for ppl 3 yrs out of UG? Already checked Glassdoor but not enough data points
I am sick of networks pretending to be 50/50 but hiring just men in C suite creative positions. “Let’s promote men and then hire women to work under them, that will change the ratio.” 🖕
When you explain to your non-accounting friends what the Big 4 is and they say, "oh sounds like the Ivy League for accounting firms" >>>>
I used to be a top performer before rona but have been so unmotivated for the last year of WFH and my performance is tanking because of it. I know some people love this life but I absolutely hate it; I chose audit because I enjoy being onsite at clients and thrive on the team camaraderie of audit rooms. WFH was okay at first, but the longer I'm stuck sitting at the same desk in my house alone all day the more meaningless everything feels to me. I don't know what the solution is, but I'm so tired
any recent hcl kollata joiners ?? how is it like need to go office or wfh?? is they sending laptop to home ??
