As an experienced hire interviewing, what should you not share about your current experience? I think I have a pretty good common sense understanding of this (obviously don’t share clients and identifying client info, for example), but would interested to hear what others think as I don’t want to come across as unprofessional, but also need to give detailed answers to the PEI portion. I assume centering on personal impact on casework is fine, but want to make sure I’m not completely off. Thanks!

Working hard right after getting promoted sucks

I accepted a promotion this year without a raise, essentially to get a leg up, it didn’t really bother me when I accepted that id be making the same amount. In 6 months I’ll be eligible for the raise and I’m starting to think numbers. I’ve been working hard over the last year and want to try to negotiate my salary when my raise is offered. What do you make as an SAE in NY? Any tips for salary negotiation when you’ve been with a company for a few years? (I’ve only ever negotiated when starting)

Hey fishes, I made it to the final round of interviews for an SWE internship at an awesome company but didn't get one of the 4 final offers. I applied to over 50 companies and this was the only one I heard back from, so I was kind of banking on it.

Feeling pretty disheartened and I'm worried I don't have enough time to secure a position for the summer. Any advice and/or concrete leads on last-minute summer SWE internships at other companies? Appreciate anything you've got!

Anyone have any insight on how the salary ranges work at @Lockheed Martin?

On new job postings, I often see rather large compensation ranges and I'm trying to figure out a good rule of thumb as far as how that translates to actual compensation.

For example, say a job posting has a salary range is from 74k - 125k. What would you expect to be initially offered, and how flexible are negotiations within that scale?

Thank in advance!

I’m an SD II and my manager just put in his two weeks notice. My director ( my managers boss ) asked if I was interested in interviewing for the manager position. It would be like skipping a level / double promotion. It seems like a huge opportunity, but it would mean no more coding, and I’m not sure I ever really want to stop coding.

I’m leaning towards declining, but there’s a part of me that feels like I’m making a huge mistake. I’d love any feedback

A little off-topic, but how do my fellow Canadians feel about the freedom convoy? (Feel free to weigh in even if you're not from Canada) Interested in seeing where everyone stands. Personally, I support it.

Career advice needed: I'm at $140K per year and have 40% equity in a company. I will only get the remaining 60% equity if our company is bought or goes public. But I can walk away now and keep my 40% equity.
I got approached by a competitor who will pay me $186K per year (so more than a 30% increase) and will also offer me equity that won't fully vest for 4 years (so essentially 25% year 1, 25% year 2, etc.). I won't get any actual money from this equity unless they are bought/go public.
