Why do most desis become consultants? Out of business school I wanted to join the industry but the only companies providing sponsorship were consulting firms. Why is this a thing when it’s harder for consulting firms to justify taking in so many internationals? 🧐

I asked my manager this morning that I wanted to change teams. Moving from sales to recruitment. I just started 2 months ago but I realized sales is not for me. My manager suggested that he’ll discuss this internally. However, I noticed they just posted for another role for sales right after my discussion with my manager. Can I be let go from company over this? Especially if the recruiting team decides not to have me on their team.

Corporate lawyers, do you use an iPad for work? In what ways has it proved most useful or valuable? Would you recommend getting one?

Considering getting an iPad Pro and apple pencil but trying to justify the $1200 sticker price. I markup docs and doing it with a computer mouse is really starting to strain my wrist (even with a wrist rest/vertical mouse) but I'm not sure that alone will be enough to warrant getting one. Are there another uses for the iPad?

2nd year. I was working a 2500 billable hour pace at my prior firm, left and went to a smaller firm 6 mo. ago. People are nicer, no longer expected to work literally 24/7, but I’m still miserable with the unpredictable workload. I had an injury earlier this year and wasn’t able to recover properly because I couldn’t take the time away for appts. I love the work I do, but I don’t think I can sustain the unpredictable schedule much longer. Is in house actually better? Other options?

AAS folks, what are 2nd year managers getting paid B4 in medium and HCOL?

From a tier 2, Making a jump into a much smaller firm with a 40% pay increase and also somewhat a promotion (I'll still get promoted if I stay at my current company). Is it worth it? The company culture seems great but sometimes I feel bad about not being in the big4 or the mid tiers. Is it just FOMO when it comes to big4?
