Anyone familiar with CA compensation laws? A previous company I worked with paid new grad engineering students working in CA hourly instead of salaried, though they still received all normal benefits. They said a law was passed because there were companies taking advantage of new grads making them work way more than 40 hours, but not paying overtime. I'm now with a new company and they pay their CA new grads as salaried. I've tried googling this law to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!

I’m really struggling in my current role. I’m a contractor with a healthcare company. When I interviewed for this BA role, I was very forthcoming in that I am not a coder/programmer in any way. “You don’t need to be at all!” 90 days in, they are disappointed that I can’t code in SQL at an advanced level. Next to no training and the training that was provided has been by a developer…who doesn’t get why I don’t know how to code. They are holding on converting me because of this. I’m just lost.

Hi all, I am currently making $160k/year and am looking at buying a $750k house 6 acres. I would put down about $300k and be able to get a mortgage at 5.5%. The property taxes and mortgage/HOA/insurance would come to about 4k/month. How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. Some of us have reached out to HR and we’re told to discuss it with the regional director, but the regional director says we’d have to come in early or leave late to block out a lunch break. My commute is an hour each way, so I’d prefer not to make my day any longer. Advice?

What should a coder/biller/transcriptionist make with over 15 years of experience? I am currently the only person in the office that can do those jobs with no backup. I code and bill all office visits for 5 orthopedic providers and all surgical coding/billing for 3 surgeons. I also do any transcription that is needed.
