I just accepted an IR associate role with a PE firm that is an amazing opportunity. More than doubles my pay (210 TC) and still doesn’t feel real. I’m usually a very confident person but I was somewhat pessimistic in the process because I didn’t expect to get the role or that I’d see that income at 24. I went from nervous that I wouldn’t get it to nervous I won’t do well. Not sure what’s happening but can I get any tips or best practice rec’s from PE IR folks? I want to hit the ground running.

Any ladies purchase their dream home while single? I’ve been holding off from buying my dream home thinking I’d wait until I had an SO to share this significant expense- however, I’m getting tired of holding off and I’m in a position to buy. Would you date someone who makes signficantly less than you?
Question is more directed towards females, but conversely for men:
Would you date someone who is making significantly more than you?
Obviously everyone will have varying definitions of "significantly" and comfort zones, so please post specifics as needed.
Just want to get some opinions since NYC is pretty competitive/expensive

What other profession besides education are you suppose to develop relationships with 150 students a day? These are to be meaningful student relationships where you know their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses so you can help them learn your content as well as develop as an individual. Also, during each day you interact with colleagues and parents. Just curious if there is a similar career with that level of interaction with others.

Ok Soo today I have an interview within public accounting, Wednesday is within wealth management firm and Thursday is within a PE firm. If the public accounting firm gives me an offer , how do I prolong it until Friday or next week?
Feel like everyone needs to just quit. I’m hearing crazy high salaries from all industries on new jobs. Is this the new normal?
Is leaving audit without a job lined up and training myself on some relevant analyst skills to try to land an industry position a terrible idea? I don’t see myself building up SQL, Python, or modeling skills with my work hours and not sure if trying to do that would help land a non-accounting role in industry.
So I left public and have been in my industry role for about a month now. I was in public for 4.5 years. I wanna leave this industry role because I'm seeing some culture red flags that are extremely hard to look past. Am I stupid for shopping around for another job or should I stick it out for a year like I planned? I can provide more detail in the comments to things I'm red flagging but wanted to get initial thoughts?
Got two offers with similar comp: 1. Internal audit at Travelers 2. Consolidation team at AIG spin off company Corebridge. Which one would you choose and why?
Had an interview yesterday and the interviewer wanted to understand what I did - even 1 month gap between jobs - from 2009 to present 🤪 Not interested in the job anymore tbh
How common is it for PA firms to present counter offers once you submit your resignation?
With interviews mostly over the phone/Skype/zoom, is everyone still sending thank you emails? I’m working with a recruiter so I don’t always have the email contacts for the people on my interview.
Currently working as a tax senior at B4. I’m thinking about being a day trader trading stocks, bitcoins and currencies if i got laid off. Any thoughts, opinions, and suggestions?
Anyone know anything about accounting jobs at Northrop Grumman? How is the WLB over there?
I started public accounting at a big4 this past January, right before everyone started wfh. I’ve had very messy clients and back to back to back year ends... I’m really feeling the burnout and don’t know how much longer I can last. I have two back to back busy seasons coming up again in January and April but after that I think I’ll be looking for other jobs...I know my issues may seem trivial compared to a seniors workload but I want to know what my options are if I have < 2 years exp.
Feeling completely burnt out on this entire profession. I think I’m ready to leave public, but I’m not confident things will be any better in an industry role (based on the crazy workloads I’ve seen my clients deal with).
Am I being overly cynical?
Would it be good to have a candid conversation with my coach about whether I should stay at GT or leave?
Basically I'm a S3 who is hoping to be promoted to manager in six months.
I have my CPA and have gotten positive feedback but I still worry that I'm going to be held back.
It's simple. If I'll be a manager, I'll stay. Otherwise, it's time for me to move on.
I feel like I'm more in the dark especially with our firm cutting mid year roundtables.
Can I hear some success stories if you left public accounting after being there for 1-2 years
Total 6+ YOE:

My current job has decent WLB; however unless someone leaves the team, I am stuck where I am. The job gets boring and every day I feel I am dragging myself in front the laptop.
My son is turning 10months soon, for my next move looking for 1) decent WLB, and 2) big pay bump. Is it possible in audit world? Or do I need to consider a career change? If so, what would you suggest? Thanks!
Everyone I know is up-skilling/networking and can’t wait to get that next role, but anyone else not a go-getter or just dislike working as a general rule? Where are the real exit opps??
I’m seeing a big uptick in industry opportunities and have confirmed that with a few recruiters. Any thoughts if we will continue to see opportunities through next Spring? Debating on leaving now versus leaving in the Spring to take advantage of EYs favorable maternity / paternity leave benefits. Plus there would be a cost of changing insurance and the deductibles restarting this year. Thoughts?
