I know someone who did it. He got food poisoning after a month or so (surprised it didn’t happen earlier). Eating four day old fish and rice isn’t a great idea! But to answer your question: if you were using the right foods and could carry on an ice box bag or something so that the food stayed cold then it could work.

My coworker once had a project in a remote location in Louisiana where there weren’t any good healthy options - she got cleared by her manager to buy her meals Sunday (at those prepped meal places like Snap Kitchen) and would bring it on the plane with her in a cooler/ice bag.

like

Bring potatoes with you and microwave them. Also bring salt and those mini butter pats that come in individual servings. Bone app the teeth!

I did it for almost a year between Boston and New York. I’d cook up my usual meals on Sunday (chicken/meat + starch + veggie) in individual containers. Let them cool and then freeze them. By the time I made it from Boston to New York, meals were just starting to thaw. Either kept in hotel fridge or office site fridge/freezer for the week!

I use meal delivery’s in Australia, I order and have them delivered to my accomodation on the Monday, and that’s all my meals for the week sorted. If I end up with one too many, I just freeze it at the client and eat it for lunch on the following Monday.

like

I pre-cooked and packed my food in insulated bags for years. No issues

IBM 1 - love it but not very healthy or nutritious

I get premade meals on Sunday (don’t make them myself) that are healthy and complaint with my diet. Put them in a lunch box with an ice pack and I’m all set

For dinner, I’ll meal prep flank steak and sweet potatoes or chicken and rice and vacuum seal them. I’ll also prep scrambled eggs for breakfast and just buy frozen waffles, sausage, and Greek yogurt at Whole Foods after work. Lunch is the only thing I’ll buy.

I had a boss who always stayed at Club Quarters in NYC so she could have a kitchenette to prepare/heat up healthier meals

I feel like I’m hitting a glass ceiling of sorts when it comes to representing clients at important events (ie, mediation, hearing, etc.). I’ll handle everything up until that point, but then I get the sense that the client wants the partner to step in and handle the big event. These same partners have told me they think I can handle it and would like for me to, but we ultimately have to meet the client’s expectations.

Any tips for navigating client office politics? I’m working on a process improvement project involving multiple teams and one team feels threatened that my client team is taking work from them (and that their jobs will be in jeopardy as a consequence), and they are slowing down progress which prevents me from doing my job. Client execs are aware but have their hands tied. What’s the best way around this?

How do you get past the “guilt” of leaving a company full of people who you like and respect? Currently on a project where I really cannot be replaced this last minute & have the project end successfully. My managers have also repeatedly checked in on me and made it very clear that they want to keep me / are doing everything they can to help me grow at the company. Still, I am not passionate about the work at ALL and want to leave. Just can’t make myself start looking because I feel so guilty.

Livid & need to vent. Had a call with a client, I am the attorney that manages their cases. A male attorney was on the call with me as well. I try to explain something to client multiple times and he keeps cutting me off to explain his question again (even though I am answering the question but for the interruptions). Male attorney jumps in and explains exactly same of what I am saying, male client listens intently, no interruptions, then essentially ignores me the rest of the call. Raaaaage 🤬

A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?

I was offered a position at Deloitte for ~26k more than I’m making currently, but they told me that in 2.5 years when the contract is over I will be out of a job. Obviously I’ll be able to network within those two years and probably find something more permanent, so it’s very similar to gig work at BAH. I also just started a new project at BAH last month so I feel uneasy leaving after a month. Can someone at Deloitte give me more insight about PDM work at the company?

My company’s new hybrid working model was finally announced. We’re in a high COL west coast city, but not tech so pay is mediocre. Option A is office/wfh combo. The office downsized, so hot desking 3 days, WFH 2 days. No stipend for supplies, internet, phone. Option B- We can apply for FT remote if we move, but will get a paycut for lower COL areas. No raises for higher COL moves. Still no stipend. Multi-billion $ company, did great bc of the pandemic. How mad should I be?
